There was a festive mood at the place with at least two places with funky music going at opposite ends of the market. And I can't recall another market with as big and wide a range of food on offer. I found one stall serving Jamaican goat curry and another offering truffle infused food. You would have to work hard to say there was nothing you liked or that there was nothing to meet your tastes and dietary needs. There were a few places to sit and have you food which is another attraction here. And there was always a bit of grass facing the ocean. The only negative is the price of most of the food; they are pretty close to those at some cafes and restaurants. A meal with drinks for two could cross the $50 mark. And that's eating on disposable plates and with disposable cutlery. And not sitting on chairs at a table. But apart from that, many people looked to be having a good time. Most stalls accept credit cards. Parking can be a bit of a problem but if you don't mind a bit of a walk, you should be able to find paid or free parking. We cheated and...
Read moreBeautiful Friday night out. Sprawling along the esplanade you will find a variety of cuisines from every corner of the globe served out of food trucks until eventually with a full belly (for me it was Roast Pork Bahn Mi, Coconut Cafe Sua Da, Japanese Bao Buns, Sweet potato chios, lemongrass popcorn chicken and a sloon full of butter chicken just to try) you reach the goods... The stuff we all flock to the Markets for!!! Jewellery, clothes, woodwork, homemade honewares, homemade petfood, artwork/artists prints, nic nacs, accessories, newage spiritualists selling crystals etc etc
The best part about the markets is on one side of you there is a black night sky blanketing the horizon covered in spilled stars like a bottle of glitter knocked over with its lid unscrewed... Then on the other side tge busseling nightlife of Scarborough beach. Restaurants, Bars, Cafes, Desert Bars, Hotels and sometimes when you are lucky enough you may see a gathering of 100+ motorcyclist enthusiasts rolling in to say a very welcome but loud...
Read moreWe live in Scarborough and can easily walk to the markets, so we have visited multiple times. On a warm summer night the atmosphere is great and we love it. There is plenty of seating with a beautiful view of the water. However, we don't love the food trucks. We think they are a bit too pricey and while the quality of some of the food is good, some isn't. We don't understand why we can go to a restaurant and get the same type of food for the same price and quite often cheaper, often better quality, while we are seated at a table and usually with table service as well. Thankfully, there is a nice selection of such places along the foreshore, so it is possible to soak up the atmosphere and if the food trucks don't appeal, have a nice...
