The Review Most endeavors will provide those that subject themselves to the journey perimeter or limits to which to operate within, our trip to Australia did just that. This will be a review of one of many places that we either visited or stayed. The level of travel experiences between Ms.P & myself placed us both fully capable of providing both an honest as well as just reviews. During this review, I will refrain from personal details (i.e daily routines, conversations, etc.) unless it is directly is impacted or influenced by the whatever unit is under review. The intercontinental Hotel of Sydney As this being my very first trip to Australia as well as residing within a luxury hotel, I can say the level of professionalism & courtesy employees was 2nd to none. Ms. P & I arrived were greeted and welcomed as our baggage was attended to by the many bellhops on standby. (Side note- The name bellhop is derived from a hotel's front-desk clerk ringing a bell to summon a porter, who would hop (jump) to attention at the desk to receive instructions. It is short for bell-hopper, and the word's first known use was in 1897.) Once all administrative duties were completed she & I were given our keys, directed to the elevators and we were on our way. (Note: The lobby- During a Marketing class, instructor stated “ to capture & hold a customer/ client, we must capture their 5 senses.” IHS did capture 2 out of 5 of mine within the first few minutes. Sight- The entrance was spacious to a point that if I didn’t know, I would have assumed we were walking into a casino lobby. Infrastructure & up to date lighting which provided a warm, but not overbearing atmosphere. Smell- I have no idea what fragrance the hotel uses, but if this review is read PLEASE let me know! The smell hits in waves as you enter the hotel, but it is also more dominant in place where odors have to be removed (restrooms & locker rooms 31st floor). Ok, after making it to our suite for the week (that’s what I called it, Ms. P said “ it’s not a suite, it’s just a nice room..”), whatever its name is was very unique based off the view as it relates to the city. Our view consists of the downtown view as a few historical buildings & statues. The room came with a fully stocked mini bar/fridge this came across as odd to me, due to haven’t ever had a mini bar/fridge without a microwave, but hey this is Australia. The bathroom was quintessential in the manner that gave you what we needed and more than we expected . Ms. P, especially enjoyed the detachable shower head and I preferred the overhead shower, but she & I are different in that due to she is 5’0 and I’m 6’3, so yeah it worked for us both. The bed was a queen size single, memory foam type setup & I’m not sure but I think the pillows were Goose-down, which was fine with me. The lighting provided the mood for most of our trip due to we had the options to use all or just reading lights. The curtains were automated which provide us both the chance to see the night sky without having to leave the bed. Overall, we enjoyed the majority of the amenities (we did forget that we could get a top shelf breakfast every morning, but who eats breakfast before walking over 8900 steps each day !?) Now in every aspect of anything there can be improvements and YES, this hotel could have a few improvements in my opinion. Here is my short list of improvements: 1. Washer & dryer- there is a laundry service, but a bit on the pricey side for me, but that’s me. 2. More events within the actual hotel (i.e comedy, poetry reading or even live music) That’s it ! That’s my review of one and only hotel in Australia that I was blessed to spend a week with a woman that I wish to spend all my days with as well as traveling mate. Please ensure that whatever you do, if you are in the area give this hotel and the surrounding vendors. The harbor is close by as well as several other sites in the area. Thank you & Roll Tide from Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

I recently had a 3-night stay at this hotel. My experience started off perfectly, thanks to Ella at check-in. She was very supportive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the IHG ONE Rewards membership. Her positive energy made the lobby feel vibrant and welcoming. The hotel's location is very convenient for visiting many attractions, especially during the "Vivid Sydney" event, which was easily accessible on foot. While the room wasn't particularly luxurious or impressively decorated, the location compensated with stunning views of Sydney landmarks and the harbor. The room was clean, and the housekeeping team was supportive and active. We had a wonderful time at the club lounge. In the evenings, the staff, including Katie, Mathilde, and the gentleman in the suit, were very nice and attentive; we always saw smiles from them. The drinks were good, although the canapés were limited in terms of choice and variety compared to the InterCon in my country. Breakfast at Aster on the 32nd floor was delightful, with excellent service from Claire, Alissa, and Emiko. The eggs Benedict were done properly, and the overall food quality was high. Despite all the positives above, my experience at the Treasury Bar on June 5th was very disappointing due to an encounter with a rude staff member. I called a waitress (Rebec…a, as indicated on her name tag) to bill my dinner, but she continued chit-chatting with another waiter, ignoring me despite clearly seeing me. When I raised my hand again with a smile, she looked at me and told me to wait so she could finish her conversation. Finally, when she came over, I inquired about applying the 20% discount available to IHG ONE Rewards members and hotel guests. She rudely asked, “What do you work?" twice, with a condescending expression. Confused, I showed her my IHG number and my hotel room number. It turned out she had zero knowledge of the IHG ONE Rewards and the promotion offered for the hotel guests. Her manager later explained that she had mistaken it for the IHG staff member discount, which is different, and that’s why she asked me like that. Finally, her manager also informed me that the 20% discount benefit could only be used at the Pont Dining Room (another restaurant in the hotel) and not at the Treasury Bar. This wouldn’t have been an issue if she had informed me politely instead of being rude. After that, I still needed to call another staff member for the billing as everyone disappeared after the incident. I mentioned this incident to a front desk staff member that night and again during checkout when they asked me about my overall experience, but I felt that no one really cared about it anyway. Overall, while there were good aspects to my stay, the poor experience at the Treasury Bar significantly impacted my overall impression of the hotel, and I feel like the hotel doesn’t care much about guests, even those loyal to IHG.

We did mostly enjoy our stay. There were only 2 points in which I do note: 1. Was advised upon check in we could access The Aster being a hotel guest. Upon arrival (just myself) I asked if I was able to simply just pop up to have a look as we had seen online before arriving that the view was spectacular however I was advised that I was required to purchase a drink which I complied with. I was also advised that by paying in cash, I was not able to be offered any change as they did not have the capacity to provide me with change. I was seated at the bar and even though there were many seats and tables on the floor level available, I wasn't offered one. The staff member at the entrance from the lift lobby was quite abrupt and annoyed with my queries which made me feel quite unwelcomed as if I was a burden on her. I did quickly finish my drink, paid without receiving change and left. I advised my wife of this upon returning to my room as she was excited to visit The Aster as well but after that interaction we decided not to; 2. On the day of check out, we did leave our bags for a short time with the reception/check out counter as we weren't departing for a few hours. Upon myself arriving back at the hotel to pick up the bags, I saw that the check in counter was quite busy so I made my way to the concierge area. I was standing waiting at approximately 2.30pm, the staff member (with the British accent)saw me but looked down to continue his duties. He then looked up and I asked him simply where I should collect my and he very rudely pointed and said out there with the bell staff you can collect your bags. He was quite rude and it was if I was an inconvenience to him. I then went and collected my bags from the bell staff who were lovely. This did leave a very unhappy feeling for us as the final interaction at the hotel. Overall the stay was quite pleasant less the above interactions.

The Sydney Intercontinental puts the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and even the Paris Intercontinental in short pants. Anna at reception was a consummate professional. She took my luggage at 8:30 am and had it delivered to my room so I could go swimming at Price Alpert pool and explore Sydney. Anna followed up with a call to make sure I had everything I needed. I received a few extra waters because I was dehydrated. In short, the attention to detail was unprecedented. She even located scissors to cut a hanging thread from my cherished 25 year old Tilley hat! Now for breakfast. Nico is the manager and made sure I was warmly welcomed and seated where I was happy. I was eating alone until my family arrives in 3 days. The food spread is amazing and takes up two rooms. There is an abundance of fruit, lean proteins, hearty proteins, pastry, grains, even a full salad bar and Korean food and rice?! Chahineze, the hostess makes sure you have everything you need and is so authentically kind. There was an alarm going off for 10 minutes straight. I asked if there was a vault heist. She assured me it was not the hotel! We chatted a little and shared some interests, but she never took her eyes off of the needs of other guests. She was another consummate professional. I am so impressed with this hotel and staff. The concierge desk has been amazing as well. They found a spot for me to watch the NFC championship game at 7 am Sydney time! SIMPLY AMAZING!

I was stay At InterContinental to enjoy the Vivid and special occasions, it was an excellent experience. When I was waiting for my room, they gave me free drink! (I can choose by myself because the person at the concierge gave me a voucher to bring to the bar. Such an amazing service) I love my room because got two sides of view from Harbour Bridge and the Rose Bay area. The bed was comfortable, also they sent me card and two bottles of Prosecco as complimentary! Love their services ❤️

The view from this hotel is just amazing! Plenty of places to enjoy the view from — the upgraded rooms, the Aster bar on the top floor, the early arrival welcome lounge, and even the gym on the top floor. My favorite thing was the early arrival lounge since my flight got in so early and I got to the hotel around 8 AM, way too early for a standard check-in. However, they had a beautiful lounge with coffee and tea and some snacks for refreshments, and they hold your bags securely so you can relax the lounge or start your day. They texted when my room was ready (early, so nice). The breakfast buffet is definitely worth adding to your stay. They had a huge variety of delicious foods, some cooked to order, as well as fresh pastries, fruits, etc.
