This is an an excellent hotel, with brilliant, but not perfect service. We booked an Opera House club Club room. Club room members can go straight to the 30th floor to check in, this way, we didn’t have to wait behind the the five groups before us. They also have 4pm check it with these rooms, which was perfect for our 8pm flight. Technically you can see the Opera house, but only if you stand at the window. No need to book a Bridge or Opera House room, as you can sit in the club instead of your room. The Horizen Club has the best view of Sydney. The afternoon tea was good, but nearing the end they must have run out of the tarts and replace it with awful frozen cupcakes and friends. The sandwiches change, but the same chocolate tart was there for three days in a row. More variety would be preferred. The evening canapés was excellent, but it’s not really canapés. It’s more of a a charcuterie with 90% of the food dips, cheese, salad. They do not replace the fruit from the cheese platter. There are three actual canapés of spring rolls, quiche and dim sum. I think his will get boring if staying a few nights. After night two, the food is almost identical. The spring roll flavour changes, as does the dim sum flavour and other dish is quiche or pie or empanada. The salads also change. The service is ok, but we saw a waitress clean a table by wiping the crumbs onto the carpet. There was no attempt to catch them in her hand. Sometimes the service up there for drink orders is slow, but if you are there for the view it doesn’t matter. Breakfast was very good too. All the usual fares with omelette and egg cooks to order. The custard pasty was one of the best I have had at a buffet. The juices were the best buffet fare too. Jerry at the breakfast was very attentive to my 7 year old. My son was so excited to have another waffle like the day before. We were saddened to see that pancakes were the offer for the day. I explained to my seven year old that it was pancakes instead of waffles, and Jerry overheard and said he would get a waffle made for him. Thanks chef, this was above the service I had expected. The next day, Rose remembered us and asked again if he wanted another waffle. The rooms are a good size, the bathroom large too. You can feel the older style, but it is so clean, it’s much preferable to the modern tiny bathrooms. We ordered a roll out bed for our son, and there was still plenty of room to walk around the bed. There is no pillow menu, but when asked for a harder one, it was supplied. The beds are very comfortable, but with too soft a pillow. The worst part about this hotel is the pool. The chlorine smell is so overwhelming that it gave me a headache watching my son and partner in the pool. I had to leave. The sauna was amazing, as were the showers at the pool area. The pool doesn’t have a shallow end, so it’s not good for children. There does seem to be a door which can be opened to the courtyard, but the staff said they were not allowed to open it. I don’t understand, why on a 30 degree day, the doors were not opened to allow the chlorine smell out and the fresh air in. The staff here need to be attentive to tidying up the used towels. The Star had a way better pool. I highly recommend this hotel, but probably not for families. They charge $250 a night pre authorisation, which is absurd. It’s almost 50% of the room costs.

I've visited this hotel three times in the past six months—for lunch alone, dinner alone, and for a stay room. Each visit has offered a unique experience, but overall, I would recommend staying here. 1,At the front desk, Evelin provided exceptional service. She was courteous and attentive, confirming the details of my reservation and offering upgrades to rooms with better views. While these upgrades incur an additional charge unless redeemed through member points, the room I stayed in boasted a stunning Harbor Bridge view. Despite our late check-in resulting in limited room availability, we were pleased with our accommodation. Although situated on a lower floor near the elevated road, the room remained tranquil, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. My only disappointment was that the hotel no longer provides complimentary bottled water unless requested. 2, The restaurant on the 36th floor is undoubtedly the hotel's standout feature, boasting the finest view in Sydney. Whether dining during breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner, the experience is unparalleled. Even for non-guests, I highly recommend visiting alone to enjoy the breathtaking vistas. Michelle provided exceptional service during our first dinner experience, which coincided with my brother and his wife's honeymoon trip. Her attentiveness ensured a memorable celebration, and her recommendations were impeccable. Although there is a minimum spend requirement during dinner service, it's ideal for indulging in a celebratory bottle of wine or taking one to go. 3, While I regrettably didn't utilize the hotel's complimentary swimming pool and gym facilities due to laziness, I can highly recommend their spa. Despite not experiencing it firsthand, I've heard glowing reviews from friends regarding its cost-effectiveness, tranquil environment, and skilled staff. I intend to visit during my next stay, with a session priced at approximately $125 for 30 minutes. 4, Unfortunately, I encountered concerns regarding the food and beverage quality during my most recent stay. Despite ordering the Grassfed Tenderloin through in-room dining, I experienced gastrointestinal discomfort shortly afterwards, indicating potential freshness issues. I hope the hotel can strengthen its food quality and safety management protocols to prevent such occurrences in the future. Overall, I hold this hotel in high regard. The staff's warmth and attentiveness contributed to a pleasant experience. The comfortable bed, tranquil ambience, and effective sound insulation ensured a restful stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any friend visiting Sydney, particularly for special occasions, where a visit to the rooftop restaurant, because they have the best view in Sydney. Highly recommended. Reminder: For guests staying at the hotel, there is a QR code on the desk that you can scan to get the services you want. You can add toiletries, and sanitary napkins for women(as a woman, feel so sweet) extra quilts, etc. Also, You can call to get it too.

You get what you pay for - if you are thinking of this hotel because its always cheaper than other 5* in Syd well because money talks. This is a 4* at best when comparing this hotel to other true 5* places like Rosewood Hong Kong or even compare to other Shangrilla property like Shangrilla Tokyo. Someone choosing this place may br comparing to other similarly located and priced Four season. Those who can afford Park Hyatt wouldnt be looking at shangrilla and stick to that. location - its 5*, Rocks area is charming. but this is located on hill so Four Season is on same level as circular quay and closer to the station there. thats where good thing ends rooms - dated like a 30yr old. Dimmer light frickles, room layout is small box cutter, bathroom lacks woe factor surrounded by 4 boring walls view - unless you book the panoramic sydney harbour view which is the rooms physically loated on harbour side, you will be stuck watchingg mirrors. dont be fooled by sugar coated "opera city" view which is if u stand by window and stick ur face at awkward angle you get a glimpse of opera house from side. but if you are simply on ur bed u see next office biulding. altitude restaurent -servers/waitors are probably untrained uni students. when they bring food, they simply say "here is your entree" without saying what it is. for my main, they said "here is your fish". pretty low standard. Even the waiters on family oriented Royal Caribbean cruises can present better, let alone a 170aud/head restaurent on falsely claimed 5* hotel. Tip - this is my 5th time staying here and each time got worse. booking via Amex FHR i used to get Full opera/harbour view room (now that was WOW room so if you book that specific room type its ok) also with a horizon club access. Now all i get is this medicore room and no club access. so: if you want to minimize cost and just want to sleep woth Amex.FHR benefit its fine. Four seasons is similarly aged and i probably prefer that over shangrila which has more 5* attributes in their rooms. if you want a romantic gateaway that matters think again. with so many new hotels that opeened in past 3years this is last time stay here. i am cancelling my January shangrilla trip because experience was just too underwhelming and particularly having seen its better days i am done watching its fall

We booked to stay at this hotel during the Easter long weekend. On arrival the lobby was crowded and a bit disorganised. So we managed to check in and I specifically requested 2 day breakfast for 2 adults the coming days. The room was clean ish. My biggest concern or problem was the smelly dust filled carpets. I do not have any dust allergy but my whole family had difficulties breathing due to the dusty room such that we developed flu. So we would go out of the hotel and our breathing problems would improve. We tried using AC but the vents looked dusty too. We had to forego one night as my child became really sick with flu, they had trouble breathing. When I booked online I requested for a bassinet. Told the receptionist this. They hadn’t placed it in the room which was disappointing. We eventually got 1 after about 40 mins or so. Mind you we were still waiting for our bags which took a while which was annoying as I wanted to feed our infant. On checkout I realised they wanted me to pay for a 3rd breakfast day which was incorrect. Told them I had only booked for 2 days. The whole process of rectifying my account took almost 20 minutes as the receptionist did not know how to fix this. She was relying on a colleague who was trying to serve other customers as it was busy. In terms of the breakfast, it was okay. I might just point out that majority of the staff who assisted guests in sitting would take our orders. It happened twice and we were wondering why our breakfast was not served. Came to find out that the servers were the only ones who could take orders. On the balance of things I expected a bit of attention to detail for a 5 star hotel. On the + side, the location is great for sight seeing but sadly I don’t think I will ever return to this hotel.

We booked an Executive Darling Harbour room on an upper level (27) to take in the views past Barangaroo and across to Balmain. Beautiful vista, great built in window bench seat and I would definitely book this room again. Good size room with mini bar, tea and coffee facilities and a serviceable desk and chair. The bathroom is beautiful with a full sized bath with a separate shower, it has a luxurious feel and finishes. The breakfast restaurant fills quickly, best to be there by 8am otherwise you may have to queue in a small awkward hallway and wait for a table to become available. There are limited food choices in food warmers plus the usual mixed breads for the toaster, fruit, pastries, cereals and juices. Choices also cater for international/Asian breakfast items. Your main hot meal is actually ordered from a menu from the servers along with your choice of coffee. It's a buffet style breakfast for your accompaniments and it's just not as extensive as other beautiful hotels in my opinion. The view however is amazing! We ordered room service on a Saturday night mid December and it was delivered very swiftly by a lovely attendant and was delicious, hot and well priced (better value than breakfast in my opinion). Location is quite close to Circular Quay with a few interesting twists of sets of stairs going down from the hotel to the harbour. Going back uphill is not exhausting, just depends on your fitness level and not favourable for a night out wearing heels! The Christmas decorations added some lovely colour during our stay but there just wasn't a lot of pizzazz to the whole hotel.
