Went here for my husbands birthday as he loves German food. I wish it were better. Atmosphere: There are tables outside and tables inside where there is air conditioning. The inside is dimly lit, has a very musky smell and there are stairs right near the entrance, so be careful when entering the restaurant. As a person with poor vision had my husband not been with me, I probably would have fallen face first. Food: We ordered two different types of schnitzels the paprika schnitzel (pork) and the Jaeger schnitzel (chicken). We also ordered drinks, spaetzle and a pretzel with a side of cheese. The pretzel was delicious, it was crusty on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. The cheese sauce was not for me. It was cold and oniony. It was a German type of cheese sauce, that apparently is meant to be served like this according to my husband who is of German heritage. The drinks were also good. We tried a Coke and Fanta drink combination. It was surprisingly quite pleasant. I didn't think this would work, but it did. Now for the main, the paprika schnitzel was cold in some parts, hot in other parts, tough in some parts and soft in other parts. It really wasn't good. My husband ate about half of it before calling quits. The German potato salad was good, perhaps a little heavy on the mustard and as for the side of spaetzle it was delicious. The jager schnitzel was undercooked, underwhelming and the breading was soggy. I cut into the side of the schnitzel and tasted it and it was not tender, but quite tough and soggy. I then cut into the middle and low and behold the chicken was raw. I asked my husband to call over the manager and I explained to him what was wrong with my meal. First let me say - the manager very approachable and wanted to correct the error. The only aspect that frustrated me with our interaction was him telling me it was perfectly safe to eat. The main reason I called him over was to inform him that my food was undercooked. I did not want him to tell me if it was safe to eat or not. I cook chicken schnitzel all the time, I also eat it all the time. Chicken schnitzel is meant to have a beautiful white or off white centre. In no way should it have any pink or in my case a lot of pink. It also should not have a soggy crumb, nor should it be tough to cut into. Perhaps due to the lighting he wasn't able to correctly see the schnitzel. I don't know, but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt due to his professionalism. He then asked if I wanted something to snack on until my husband finished his food as I did not want to wait for another main meal. I opted for a small serving of potato salad. Again, the potato salad was quite delicious. If my chicken was cooked well, and the manager had acknowledged that it was in fact undercooked, my rating would have been higher. Would I return and recommend? Honestly I probably wouldn't. The fact I enjoyed the sides more than the main meal is never a good thing. On another note - I can understand what the other commenters were talking about in regards to the silverware they are worn out and should be changed. I have attached some photos of the schnitzel for your reference.

For a place that promises so much - there is much room for improvement at the Munich Brauhaus. I was astounded with how cavernous the location is - the restaurant seems to go on forever - creating the Beer Garden atmosphere. It would be great if it worked. Perhaps this was a just a bad night where the service didn't really deliver. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed - when you had their attention they took the food and drink orders and responded well - but they weren't really proactive. We were seated and left to flummox for minutes until we attracted someone serve us. There was no confirmation of how the food would be delivered (none of the German organisation I was expecting). It was German (Bavarian) inspired food served by Italian inspired waiters. After each course we interceded with the waiters to bring us the next course. Again, they seemed overwhelmed by what was happening. The food was plentiful. It was (mostly) tasty. It was enjoyable. My group started with a pretzel. Which was delicious. After some time, our main meals arrived. A combination of full Pork Knuckle (me), Pork Belly and various platters. Overall, the food was good (not great). The Pork Knuckle exhibited some dryness which needed some extra gravy. The crackling was done to perfection. The platters were well stocked will all manner of schnitzel, pork knuckle and sausages. Perhaps some vegetable dish (that wasn't based in onion or cabbage) should be included. We then asked for dessert. This took an inordinate amount of time. However, one of the group didn't get his Apple Strudel delivered and had to wait another 20+ minutes to be delivered. Perhaps this is the trend in Sydney. Perhaps we have seen "peak service" and now restaurants are Ok with delivering less than adequate service. I've recently written about other restaurants with similar service. Maybe this is the future and I've been expecting too much. Let's hope not. Let's hope that restaurants (despite having little competition) will realise that poor service does the industry no favours and the service levels improve. That people visit restaurants not just for the food, but also to be treated and served well so their experience is pleasant and their visit to the restaurant will be memorable for all the right reasons.

I’m a big fan of German restaurants and German beer so upon our visit to Sydney, this place was definitely on our list. Made a reservation for a 5.30pm dinner on Sunday, but when we arrived that didn’t seem to matter as we were asked where we’d like to sit. Was shown to the table and informed that a waiter will be with us to take our orders - which never happened. Eventually, after 15min or so of waiting, we ordered using the QR code on the table - ordering the Tasting Platter and the Best Wurst Platter for us to share between us. Also ordered a Mango Hefe to drink, which came very quickly (~5min). The food itself took over 40mins, by which time I’d almost finished the beer. We didn’t have any cutlery at the table so spent another 3-4min trying to flag down a waiter, not that the staff would have noticed we didn’t have any cutlery as the only interaction we’d had with them was being shown to the table and food/drink being dropped off. The beer itself was great, the highlight of the evening. I’d never actually tried a mango juice-twisted beer but I really enjoyed it. 9/10, would absolutely order it again on the off chance we ever come back. The food was alright. The cheese kransky was good and the pork belly was cooked nicely. I’m not sure what happened to the pinwheel nürnberger, whether it was replaced with another thuringer or just not in a pinwheel, I actually couldn’t tell. Either way they were both average, as was the rest of both platters. Not unlikeable, but nothing to write home about. For the price point, Münich Brauhaus was pretty disappointing overall. Note there is a $10 “Sunday charge”, I’m unsure if this is commonplace in Sydney or not. Unfortunately I can’t give a higher rating for service as our interactions with the staff were little to none. It was rather busy, they did appear to be getting along well with other tables but I can only write about our personal experience. Total spend was over $100 for two people, maybe one day I’ll try again, possibly just for the beer, but probably not.
