📍 Casa Ristorante Italiano 42/48 The Promenade, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
This was my first time here and Sydney in general. Stopped in for a quick bite after the Sea Life Aquarium because it was the first thing we stumbled across. I normally don’t step foot in a restaurant without doing research (side note: why is Yelp not a thing in Australia??!) but my boyfriend, who is the complete opposite, was starting to get hangry so I had to do what I had to do. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised…
🪩 Ambiance/atmosphere:
⭐️ 9.5/10
Since it’s just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the water, we decided to sit outside because it was such a beautiful day. Completely covered overhead and tables were very clean. They also have fans and heaters scattered throughout the floor to accommodate whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at us that day. We sat in front of a small vertical herb garden with a TV above it. It was on that TV that I discovered they offer cocktail, pasta, pizza, and even kids pizza making classes! Might just have to take a class in the future when I have more time.
Only reason I took half a point off is because it feels just a tad cramped. When we came in, it wasn’t too busy; however, I could see that if it was busy, I’d feel a little claustrophobic. Not terribly bad but removing a table here and there would go a long way. Then again, with how great the food is and the amazing location, I can see this place getting very busy. Would I want to wait a long time for a table? No. Am I willing to sacrifice a little more room to get seated faster? Yes.
🛎️ Service:
⭐️ 10/10
🗣️ Came in at 1:30pm on a Wednesday and we were greeted and seated in about a minute. Manuel (pretty sure that was his name) was amazing! It was slightly busy but he really made sure we were taken care of. We mentioned that it was our first time in Sydney and he recommended quite a few things for us to do which was nice! Also, they have one of those little robot servers roaming around. It didn’t come around to our table but it was cool to see one of those for the first time!
🍴 Food:
Salt & Pepper Calamari 💰 $26 ⭐️ 10/10 🗣️ Best calamari I’ve had in a long time! It wasn’t tough or chewy at all, the batter was light/crispy, and the aioli on the side was great. Halfway through I decided to squeeze the lemon on it and let’s just say I wish I had done that from the beginning.
Chicken and Mushroom Risotto 💰 $34 ⭐️ 10/10 🗣️ The menu describes it as, “the perfect combination of chicken, mushrooms and cream.” That is also how I would describe it. Perfection. I’m usually hesitant to order risotto because it can sometimes be mushy but this still had a nice bite to it. Cheesy, creamy, chicken and mushrooms in almost every single bite… you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.
🥂 Drinks:
Squealing Pig Prosecco 💰 $14 a glass / $65 a bottle ⭐️ 10/10 🗣️ We got a bottle. Not going to lie, I’m not a drink aficionado so alcohol is alcohol to me and that’s 10/10 always.
Overall atmosphere, food taste/quality, and service were top notch. Needless to say, and to quote the great Arnold Schwarzenegger,...
Read moreThis resturant is the most above average italian resturant in Sydney (in a good way), its got the pizza 🍕 pasta 🍝 and everything else an italian resturant would have, but I can only speak for the pizza cause thats what we all ordered.
In terms of food, very solid wood oven pizzas very traditional and they really load up the pizza with toppings, perfect for the fat lil cousin who always gets hangry every 2 hours, though still had to go to the subway 200 meters away and get him 2 choc chip cookies 🍪 to helo him wash down the entire pizza he just ate. For the average man its enough to really fill you up.
Only reason they dont get 5 ⭐️s for food is because the crust was a lil too thick for italian pizza which some people like but me personally, im more used to a thin crust like on a manoosh 🤤.
Service was great, were able to get us a table for 10 at peak time in darling harbour and staff work quickly to get our food and even sang happy birthday for our table, happily took a picture of us and were really kind regardless of how busy it was so they really do deserve the 5 ⭐️.
HOWEVER, ill blame it on the fact it was busy this time, but they could have given us more water refills considering how thiccc the bread was on the pizza almost had to dip it in the glass to get it soggy💧enough to consume.
Atmosphere, cant go wrong with darling harbour view and fireworks 🎇 going on outside with jazzy classical italian songs and the bar and kitchen right behind you, this review is getting too long to explain so just look at the pictures.
Overall great very decent and pricing was very good and competitive CONSIDERING, other resturants around sydney and the service food and atmosphere youre getting highly recommened for anyone who happen to be around the city
*3 month update, they must've seen my amazing reviews and have since removed tail from prawns on gamberi and the dough is no longer so thicc. Overall it deserves 5 stars the pizza was...
Read moreHonestly don’t have a lot of complaints, I think it deserves the 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the nice atmosphere, good food and service.
We had the gamberi wooden stove pizza 🍕 which is prawns 🍤 and has chilli 🌶️ flakes and as a person that doesn’t like pizza other then my moms, this was a very delicious pizza. Had a perfect amount of chilli flakes for spice and the prawns didn’t have a tail so it was easy to eat.
We had the chicken 🐓 caccai pizza and it was good but to be honest it’s nothing crazy. It’s like your average pizza 🍕 . We added jalapeños on ours and it definitely made it more yummy 🤤 and spicy 🥵. I recommend the gamberi more than the chicken caccai.
Also had the Aprohdite mojito 🍹and it was decent, I think it had raspberry 🍒cordial I feel like I’ve had better and I prefer a mojito that’s more sweet but others would probably like it.
Had a Go Green 🍏🍵mocktail 🍹the second time I came here and it was decent again. I think they need to improve their mocktails cause there’s only two options and they’re not the best.
We also had the tiramisu and ngl it’s a very tiny piece and maybe my expectations are high but it wasn’t amazing like I’ve had better. I like how there was a cute ☺️ edible flower 🌸 on top though.
The atmosphere was nice, I really liked the warm lighting 💡and colours, makes the atmosphere really cozy 🕯️and comfortable and a nice place to have a dinner date or whatever. Had a cute little lamp 🪔on our table.
The service was great, our waiter remembered that we wanted tiramisu after our pizza and when we finished our pizza, the pizza stand was immediately taken off our table which was very nice of them so definitely 5 stars 🌟 for them.
Overall great restaurant, highly recommend people coming here for dinner or lunch👍. I recommend booking a reservation though because there’s also...
