gusty winds, crashing waves on the water breaker, beautiful scenic view, hot coffee and penguins! There are volunteers here that takes care of the penguins. Respect them and do listen to their instructions. You can get up close with the penguins but you can't touch them for their own good. No flashes allowed and do remember to keep your volume down. There were about close to 20 penguins or more all around the water breaker where their nests are. Drop by between 6.30pm and 8.30pm (best is 6.30pm when there is still some light left from the setting sun). Dress warmly as it will get cold especially during the winter season. You can park at the St. Kilda Beach Bath though it is expensive (above $10 for more than an hour). There are also limited parking spaces along the roads for lesser. The Bar/Cafe at the Pier is small but cosy and the staffs there warms up the place real nice. Pictures taken during the winter/rainy season.

OLD WORLD CHARM OFFERING SPECTACULAR VIEWS BACK TO THE BEACH AND CITY SKYLINE St Kilda Pier is one of those things you have to "do" when visiting the suburb. A decent walk directly out to sea along an old pier. On the walk out you'll pass people fishing from the pier edge, the boarding point for sea ferries, numerous little platforms that jut out to give you great photo opportunities and finally the old kiosk at the end of pier where you can stop for a bite and / or drink before heading back to the beach. Its a flat, level walk so people with mobility issues will be OK (although its a good ten minute walk from the beach to the end of the pier). Wheelchairs will be a bit bumpy but OK. A new pier in in planning that promises a better experience and a more disability-friendly design.

There’s nothing like seeing nature, and admiring its beauty without interruption. However, that’s not quite the case here. My wife and I got here super early (2 hours before sunset) and just talked while we waited. Like any spot like this, people eventually started to pile in. These rocks are conservation grounds to protect the habitat of these awesome little penguins. For some reason, people still don’t understand the whole stay at a distance, fully touch the animals, and don’t feed the animals. I saw multiple staff wearing bright green vests, who weren’t even on the docks to monitor people abusing the animals. It ruins the experiment for everyone when some people just literally jump into the water to try and take selfies with them.

The new St Kilda Pier is great, definately a big improvement of this area for Melbourne with picture perfect views. The pier is suitable for all abilities and has toilets back of kiosk. Unfortunately the kiosk wasn't operational yet and will be great when it is, but in the meantime there are restaurants closeby to the start of the pier like Beachcomers etc. Parking cost $13 for a couple of hours. There is a nice sunbathing area at the end of the pier near the kiosk but a fair jump off the pier to go in water but there is a ladder to get back up to the pier. Definately take yr sunscreen though as you are exposed to the sun No shelter there. Behind the kiosk is an area to view penguins.

Took a stroll down the pier to watch the sunset. The view was magnificent. At night, the waters were a silky dark sapphire and the sky was a beautiful yellow tint. We saw a couple of penguins but didn't take any pictures. I would recommend going at around 8pm++ However, I need to say this as a cautionary warning. Please be gentle and concious of the animals. People were crowding around, flashing lights and stressing the poor penguin out. So please please be a little more considerate to these delicate creatures. I think observing from a distance is fine! Just don't be too obnoxious. Thanks. P.s it's quite romantic if you're planning to stay later 😉
