I had rated this place with 5 stars. But, sadly I am updating my review and giving this place 2 stars. I used to love this place. We know many many people that come to visit Graz and we used to always send them there. Their Apple and Topfen strudel is the best!! To me, especially the Topfen! However, the last time, me my husband and our little son went for our usual! But, this time we had a horrible experience and were (I was)treated VERY rudely! We were not welcomed at arrival and not friendly sitted. We asked for a child chair but, sadly they didn't have one. We had to use some pillows! Then we ordered what we always do, a cappuccino, a latte and Topfen studel with vanilla sauce. But, our waiter Patrick brought two cappuccinos instead of what we asked for. Mistakes happen so, we asked him very friendly to please bring a latte, what we had ordered, to which he was annoyed. But, we had ordered a late! And then, he just "forgot" to bring it!!! After a long while, almost done with the cake (which we tend to eat slowly, it is so good!) and, looking in his direction a few times, still did not get my coffee. So, I had to go to the bar and get it my self!. And of course, after so long, it was cold!! We finished eating, trying to not let this ruin our day. But, while paying, since he did not even apologize, I mentioned in a friendly manner that he had forgotten me and my coffee. To which he responded SUPER rudely and added "well, I don't make the coffees!" And, walked away! STILL no apology! After this response, because NO ONE should EVER be talked this way, me and my husband decided to complain to the manager which was not there so, we mentioned it to the waiter in charge. She called him and he responded EVEN more rudely!!! It was so embarrassing! People around were watching how this man was talking to me (to us). My husband intervened and in a calm manner said to him "this is NOT the way to talk to a customer". Then still saying he doesn't make the coffes but, finally gave a "sorry" that was not apologetic, in a very rude way!! I have no idea if this man was just having a bad day or, he didn't like that I am a foreigner and my German is not perfect or, only God knows what. But, NO ONE should ever be talked to in this way, also the coffee and cake is not for free, this is quite and expensive place! This was so embarrassing, stressful and just not okay. :( There are some places that have the reputation of having rude waiters but, Graz doesn't. However, this wins the price for the rudest! We might try to comeback once more in hopes that this was a mishap and will not happen again. But, if it does, we will for sure stop coming and stop recommending it to all the...
Read moreI recently visited Aiola upstairs and, unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Instead of a warm greeting, we were met with indifference at the entrance. After finding a table, a manager quickly sent a waiter to inform us that the table was reserved, only to change their mind minute later and allow us to sit there.
What followed was a disorganized service. We were kept waiting for menus, and when we eventually received one, the same waiter came back to take our order before we had even had the chance to look it over. This rushed approach felt chaotic and unprofessional.
We ordered coffee and soups, but the soup was incredibly disappointing. It tasted like it had been watered down multiple times, lacking any real flavor. The overall quality of the food left much to be desired, which is a real letdown when you're hoping to enjoy a meal out.
The service was far from great, and the food did not impress at all. The only positives I can mention are the beautiful view and the nice interior of the restaurant. However, these alone cannot compensate for the lackluster dining experience.
Additionally, I found the prices to be quite high for the quality of food and service offered. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience. There are certainly better options out there that offer both great food...
Read moreFirst I will share good things. I booked a table for two to have a light dinner with a view. Restaurant is beautiful, as well as a location. Waitress was very friendly, wine and corn cream soup were amazing. But that's where good things end.
Instead of sitting on the terrace and enjoy a nice weather, we were seated inside. Staff explained it that we can't eat outside. Why? Where it stated? Publish this rule visible during the reservation process then! Restaurant was very nice inside, but again, the waiter didn't offer us to choose a table(there was almost empty hall), I can understand that the tables may be reserved, but for sure not all of them at the same time! We were seated right near the cash desk where all waiters were standing, it was wery uncomfortable. Also beyond my understanding was bringing 'Gedeck' without asking first - 2 small buns and 3 small cups with different spreads, and charge for it 4.5 euros per person. Okay, it's not a big money, but just - why. I don't eat butter, someone doesn't eat bread - why you bring it without agreeing with a customer and then charge for it. And as a side note: WC was very dirty. Unpleasant surprise from such a fancy restaurant. With more respect for the guests this place can be the best in Graz, but for now.. Definitely not....
