I must be missing something cause what i saw was just another abandoned building in serious need of a paint job. The whole area around the Government House was run down with grounds unkept, public utilities jury rigged to work (light poles, electrical boxes) ripped open, exposed wires. There are a few tours you can find in this area to explain all the history but there is also a museum right down the hill in pompey square where you could get accurate information as well vs. the word of mouth you may get in a taxi or other dive by tour.
