Gourmet Seafood House, Nassau, Bahamas:
During our recent visit to Gourmet Seafood House, we were eager to indulge in the local seafood, and the experience was a mix of culinary delight and logistical challenges.
We kicked off our meal with the Conch Fritters, and I must say, they were the highlight of our appetizer selection. Crispy on the outside and wonderfully tender on the inside, these fritters were bursting with flavor and made from fresh conch. They were, without a doubt, the best we had on the island, setting high expectations for the rest of our meal.
We opted for the Fried Grouper served with Jasmine Rice, Salmon Penne Pasta, and warm French bread for our main courses. The Fried Grouper was exquisite; it was perfectly seasoned and fried to golden perfection, resulting in a flaky, tender fish that was a joy to eat. The Jasmine Rice was a lovely, fragrant, and fluffy complement, enhancing the overall dish. On the other hand, the Salmon Penne Pasta was rich and creamy, with generous portions of salmon that brought a delightful freshness to the pasta. The French bread was a nice touch, perfect for soaking up the delicious sauces.
However, despite the outstanding quality of the food, we faced significant service delays. The wait for our main courses was excessively long, and unfortunately, they did not arrive simultaneously. I had already finished my entire meal by the time the second dish was served, which was disappointing. The kitchen appeared to prioritize to-go orders over seated patrons, leading to a frustrating dining experience for many of us in the restaurant that evening.
We chose to dine outside, which provided a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and chatter. The music playing in the background was a highlight, adding to the vibrant ambiance and making it feel like a true Bahamian experience.
While the staff was friendly and accommodating, they struggled to manage the large crowd effectively. We noticed several issues, including forgotten drink orders, incorrect dishes being served to other tables, and general disorganization. Clearly, the waitstaff were doing their best, but they seemed overwhelmed, which affected the overall dining experience.
Gourmet Seafood House boasts outstanding food that is worth trying. The Conch Fritters, Fried Grouper, and Salmon Penne Pasta were exceptional dishes showcasing the best Bahamian cuisine. However, potential diners should be prepared for long wait times and some service hiccups, especially during busy hours. If you can manage your expectations regarding service, you’re in for a treat with some of the best seafood the...
Read moreExcellent restaurant a short walk away from where we were staying. So good, we went twice in 3 days!
Definitely recommend trying the Mango Kalik beer, and their house lemonade. The first time I tried the mango lemonade the second time, the classic - so you can't go wrong with either option.
We tried the conch fritters, cracked conch, lemon pepper chicken wings, 3 cheese spinach dip for appetizers. The wings were some of the best I've ever had! Perfectly seasoned and fried without extra batter. The cheese spinach dip was also phenomenal!! The rich 3 cheese blend with plenty of spinach paired perfectly with their crispy chips. The conch fritters, truthfully were OK, I preferred the cracked conch for more of an authentically fresh conch taste.
For entrees, we had the glazed salmon with peas and rice with a side of mac and cheese, and the shrimp penne pasta. The portions are absolutely plentiful. The pasta was OK, so was the glazed salmon. I feel like we should have tried their seafood boil as that seemed to be a popular dish among the locals, we'll have to try it next time!
Service was attentive, atmosphere was very good! Overall this is a must try if you're staying in the area - you don't have many other choices late in the evening anyway in Downtown as most other places seem to cater to cruise passengers and close...
Read moreOn vacation in The Bahamas we decided to try this restaurant randomly walking and enjoying the city. We were greeted by the host it was four of us and seated in the dining area which was very inviting and the A/C didn’t disappoint. A very friendly atmosphere and great customer service. My wife and I ordered the seafood boil it came with 2 snow crab clusters, 1 lobster tail, 6 tiger sized shrimp, mussels, 2 boil eggs and potatoes . Our cousin and her husband ordered Snow Crabs and shrimp, potatoes. 10/10 for us!!!!! My wife and I shared the seafood boil. The food was well seasoned, nice portions, the shrimp was not sticking to its shell as some do when they’re over cooked, the potatoes were very tender not mushy . The crabs was very juicy and full of flavor. We didn’t know what to expect from the experience as we’re touring the city, in our opinion the food was absolutely amazing!!!! The owner and staff was very friendly and helpful!! My wife and I are from the Gulf Coast and we know seafood!!! Trust me if you’re ever in Nassau, Bahamas and are a fan of seafood boils,...
