I absolutely loved this museum, and I’m an adult and a history lover. I think it does what is the most difficult thing for museums to do in tourist locations: balance appeal for adults and children. I’ll explain . . .
As an adult, I loved the well-done placards explaining the importance of pirates to the history of the Bahamas. They were excellently done and very intriguing while at the same time educational. The perfect compliment to the replicas of a ship, life on a ship, and life-sized scenes that are really really well done, especially for a museum in a capital as small as Nassau.
The topics they enlighten you on, like the food they eat, how they perform surgeries, how they were punished, we’re all absolutely fascinating for anyone who has a sliver of interest in history, and the fact that you read about it, and then look at it re-created right in front of you is just wonderful for me.
Kids will love it because you come face to face with pirates, teens and adults will love the “true/false” flip games, and everyone who allows themselves to be will be transported into another place and time. This is a REAL history museum, not just a toy attraction, and that makes it special.
Price was around $16 per person. Remember nothing is cheap in the Bahamas :). But I honestly think it’s a must see and you can check it off your list in 1 hour or 90 minute no problem if you’re in a rush and still get a nice impact.
Great work here guys! ...

You're suddenly transported back to the early 18th century, standing dockside in a moonlit post while pirates from the "Revenge" celebrate in a nearby tavern as you walk alongside the quay. As you climb aboard, you're amidst what life on a pirate ship would entail - from how boots is divided, to a grisly amputation due to combat.
This museum tells the tales as you would have experienced them in the early 1700s. All of your favorite pirates are mentioned, their stories told, but also those who were feared in their day, but less renowned in today's circles of easy life.
Make sure to stop by and enter this wonderful museum. It's worth your time while you're in Nassau, I promise!
The gift shop has some fascinating artifacts to see, also, so don't miss those. However, the options for souvenirs are lacking greatly. I was a bit shocked how little they had, to be honest. The gift shop was my only negative. Ha!
If it's a busy cruise port day, you might have a bit of a wait at certain times, but that's sort of hit and miss. We waited 15 mins to get in and when we came out an hour later, there...
