This self-guided tour through the history of the Age of Piracy is a gem! You're suddenly transported back to the early 18th century, standing dockside in a moonlit post while pirates from the "Revenge" celebrate in a nearby tavern as you walk alongside the quay. As you climb aboard, you're amidst what life on a pirate ship would entail - from how boots is divided, to a grisly amputation due to combat. This museum tells the tales as you would have experienced them in the early 1700s. All of your favorite pirates are mentioned, their stories told, but also those who were feared in their day, but less renowned in today's circles of easy life. Make sure to stop by and enter this wonderful museum. It's worth your time while you're in Nassau, I promise! The gift shop has some fascinating artifacts to see, also, so don't miss those. However, the options for souvenirs are lacking greatly. I was a bit shocked how little they had, to be honest. The gift shop was my only negative. Ha! If it's a busy cruise port day, you might have a bit of a wait at certain times, but that's sort of hit and miss. We waited 15 mins to get in and when we came out an hour later, there was no line.

If you have an interest in pirates in the early 1700s, this is a fun, quick stop. This is not your typical museum. While there are a few historically relevant pieces on display, this museum primarily uses vignettes of what things would have looked like, coupled with placards explaining what you are viewing. The museum does a great job using ambiance lighting to put the viewer "in the moment." The information is somewhat superficial if you have studied the subject, but it is perfect for those who are looking with "new eyes." I especially like the true/false questions. It took about an hour to go through the whole museum. Pros: air-conditioned, clean presentation, long enough to be worth the money, but not so long as to bore the kids. Cons: perhaps too short. Perhaps not enough information. For you, it may be a great hour or so of escape!

When you enter, you'll wonder if you've accidentally walked into a scare attraction where someone dressed as a pirate is going to jump out an frighten your barnacles off. But fear not me'hearty, its all mood lighting and sound. There are some great displays with fun true or flase pirate statements on the walls. Some voice overs explaining history of pirates that were in the area. It can get kids interested in the real life of pirates. For adults wanting to see real swords and guns and treasure pulled up from wrecks, then there is a little bit at the end. Go for some fun, learn some cool facts and take a few pictures. It's enjoyable and has made me want to look up more history when I get home.

The Pirates of Nassau museum is a fun, self-guided tour that puts you right in the middle of pirate life. From the full-sized ship at the entrance to the fascinating displays inside, it’s packed with stories of raids, codes of conduct, and even punishments. Did you know marooned pirates were left on an island with just a bottle of water, a bottle of gunpowder, and a weapon? Harsh. You can rush through in 30 minutes, but take your time to enjoy the trivia and amazing details. The museum is clean, well-kept, and the perfect mix of history and fun. If you’re in Nassau, don’t miss it—it’s the pirate capital of the Bahamas, after all!

As someone who enjoys the history and lore of the goldan age of piracy, this experience was well worth it. The set pieces and lighting are so well done, as is the dialogue from the swashbuckling characters. Once you go inside it really invokes the surreal feeling of living as a pirate in the early 1700s. The displays and informative screens give you a sense of their way of life back then. From their code of conduct, to living conditions and diet, and to the criminal punishment of mearooning - the attraction goes into detail on all of it. I especially enjoyed the opening scene and the Blackbeard attack. Highly recommended.

Our first stop when in the island, as everyone ran off the the beaches and bars we had the museum to our selves. We were greeted at the entrance and walked into the year 1710, to A Well structured Museum (that can maybe pass for a haunted pirate tour in the fall). Was nicely put together, had great information on Pirates of the past and detail visuals. We walked away learning a thing or two about the actual Pirates of the Caribbean! At the end of our walk we were at the museum shop where a nice gentleman was there to see ya off. It's a nice lil'spot to visit especially if you like museums and history
