Rarely do I make reviews but this one I had to make.
A worker in the back of the store told us several times all the candy along the wall was 20% off.
We paid for our items. The receipt listed the candy by the ounce instead of the quarter pound on the wall. Interesting. I multipled the price per ounce on the receipt and it was the same price as the wall price.
I went back to the worker who initially said it was 20% off and confirmed the discount and she said, "Oh, it's actually only 10%." Intersting. Which I wasn't even given 10% discount.
When I returned to the register and explained the situation to the cashier she said "its only 10% if you mention it." After mentioning that one worker says 20%, then 10%, then it's only if you mention it and that they all need to get their communications straight. She talked to 2 more people who I assumed were management. She comes back and said she would honor the 10%. The cashier takes the receipt and hands me (2) 25 cent coins of Bahamian money. My initial bill was over $50. The actual discount...less than 1%
At this point, I just took the money and walked out very frustrated at the incredible bait and switch.
I assume they hope you don't check your receipt and dont ask questions. It's not about the money. It's the business principle. It's not right and I hope the management of this place will correct it. If it's only a 10% discount. Say that. If you need to mention it at the register. Say that. If you say you will honor the discount, give it correctly.
Neat place. Lots of candy. Huge selection. It seems by the reviews lots of people like it. The bait and...
Read moreVery hospitable staff! Love the variety of treats and toys for ALL budgets in the candy section downstairs.
Dining upstairs was pretty good. Very hospitable workers and the atmosphere was so welcoming.
Food was good and typical sports bar menu. Depending on crowd at time of visit, it varies in child-friendliness.
At the time of our visit, there was several families with little ones. This was during the week can’t remember which day. It was also in the afternoon after school pickup. We left before sunset to avoid the night crowd.
My only suggestion would be for them to reconsider the $5 charge for the 360 Selfie Rotation Device. I think that should be complimentary for customers who have made a minimum purchase of $5. If we’ve already made a purchase and dined, it really should be complimentary. It adds to the experience! I love the Junkanoo room upstairs, very cultural.
Love their mascot! Lol! That mascot knows how to get jiggy! Lol!
The place is beautifully designed with lots of brightly-colored art and makes the atmosphere exciting, fun, cultural and artistic. Especially the Junkanoo room! It makes for a fun and memorable time. This restaurant has a stage for karaoke and I love that it’s not just dining but it’s an experience!
Overall, very hospitable and...
Read moreMy mom and I went to I Dream of Sugar as we explored Nassau when we got off of our cruise ship. It’s in a very easy to access spot, right across from the Straw Market. We were met with some live music right outside the door which made for a really fun environment. Right when we entered the store, we were greeted by Juanita, who took us around the store. She told us about the history of the island and the rum cakes - the store had their own special flavors that were delicious. There was an overwhelming amount of treats to choose from including some old school Pez dispensers, giant gummy bears- literally wall to wall covered in candy. It was tough to pick what to get but Juanita was super knowledgeable about everything in the store and helped up decide on some chocolates that were perfect gifts to bring back. I wish the second floor restaurant had been open when we were there but it looks like it’s going to be a fun spot. Would absolutely recommend to take kids or for anyone looking to get a gift on...
