I wanted to write an in depth review that will hopefully be helpful to some. I'm writing this in-depth because it was hard for us to decide to save money vs go stay at Atlantis. We waited until the last minute so we ended up here. We had stayed at Baha Mar for 2 days prior.
I'll start with check-in. The ladies at the front were very kind and helpful. Occupancy was high and rooms were not ready until 3:30 but we were able to get our passes to Atlantis. If you needed to change there was an area to do so. They would also store your luggage. Upon check-in you notice everything is clean but the dark colors of the furniture, the yellow cream of the paint color and the brownish orange does not help create an airy island feel. I will add that they are doing renovations. They are going with a whiter color and it is remarkable how much it brightens the areas they are painting in. The front desk manager was very attentive when he found out our safe was broke and had it repaired immediately.
Room: When you walk in it is cool but you can tell there is moisture in the air. The room was kept very clean. I did see a staff member with a buffer cleaning the floors in the rooms. I also swept my finger on top of the ceiling fan blade and zero dust. I did notice mold growing on the bottom of the picture that was located near the AC. The yellow cream paint, brown and orange colors do not help the room. It makes the room feel dingy and dirty when it is not. The bedding was clean and felt new. The pillows are a feather type and I like feather pillows but also would prefer to have a firm one as well. The bed was comfortable (not the best and not the worst). The towels on the first night seemed to be newer and in great condition. The 2nd night they were still white and clean but slightly more worn. Zero issues. The hair dryer SUCKS!!!! The one in my room hardly worked. If you have long or thick hair bring your own. I used the one in my sisters room and while hers worked better it took forever to dry. The AC units really need to be replaced. They are not efficient and struggle. There is definitely a moisture issue they need to figure out. My sisters room there was a huge puddle of water near the AC and they had to wring a towel out. Staff saw the issue as they were the ones to initially place the towel to keep the water from spreading. The refrigerator was not great at all. It kept things cool. My sisters room was the same way. They came to look at it and said it was fixed. Maybe so but if you need to store meds, drinks or leftovers that need to be kept cold keep this in mind.
Cleaning: They seemed to always be cleaning. There was a woman sweeping the carpet steps one morning. The colors are what makes it feel unclean and old.
Breakfast/Dinner: Breakfast was your basic continental breakfast. The eggs were ok just add a little salt and pepper. They had fresh fruit cut up each morning which was good. They had juices, coffee and tea out. You can't make the waffles yourself so they get the soft feeling after sitting in the chaffing pan for a while. There are 2 or 3 locations you can get breakfast. It's complimentary before a big day at the water park so really can't complain. My nephew gave it 2 stars, my niece 5 stars and my sister 4. The staff was always picking up plates and wiping tables down. They definitely hustled. Dinner: some of the best conch fritters we have had on an island and we have traveled around the islands extensively. My sister and I spilt the pasta with a white wine sauce which also had chicken and veggies. It was good. Service was excellent and they were playing music in the bar which was nice.
Would I stay here again? I'm not sure. I would probably stay at The Royal at Atlantis due to convenience and price difference between the 2. The other factor would be the extent of the renovations (new AC & new fridges). If they did not update these 2 then probably not. I will commend the staff on their kindness, hard working to keep an old property clean. My review is not a reflection on the people we...
Read moreGood day , I am a resident of Nassau, i found your residential rates to be an awesome price , so my son is off from school for mid-term break, and i decided to treat him and a friend of his to a one night stay to relax and to enjoy themselves . I must start with the First desk young lady that checked me in, she had a warm and inviting smile think her name starts with an "A" she's of slim built and has a short hair cut she was dynamic in welcoming me and the boys. The resort is well maintained and clean. You have a friendly and decent staff compliment. There is a good amount of space in the room. Love that the accommodations allow for the kids to enjoy amenities over at the Atlantis definitely a plus. Had a late lunch at the Splash Bar, Travis was our Bartender/server and he was very pleasant 10/10 . Returned later for dinner and met Hillwood, this gentleman was awesome. Drinks were really good and service was amazing he took the time to explain the taste of some of the drinks i had never heard about like the " banana dream boat" which was awesome 20/20 ratings in my book, that's how good he made us feel, his Aura and attention to detail with our drinks was enough to make me sit beyond dinner. Our beds were comfortable so slept well. Came down to Crusoe's for breakfast now this portion of the visit did not leave much to be desired and very disappointing. There were 2 servers who were quite rude and I initially thought they were having an off moment but the attitudes persisted throughout the entirety of breakfast. Outright rude statements, talking under the breath. They were not pleasant at all i meant AT ALL, they weren't even approachable . They had their name tags concealed with their aprons, but I asked another member of staff there names. I was given their names as Jewel and Natasha ,can i tell you their service and attitude I'm positive does not a line with your companies policy and goals, I was astonished how both ladies responded to the guest at breakfast this morning, many other guest complained under their breath while I was standing in line so I kept my eyes on them the entire service, in one instance a serving spoon fell on the floor " the lady with the glasses on said to the guest " so you ain't ga pick it up and sucked her teeth, and walked away" leaving the guest in utter disbelief. I myself then picked up the serving utensil off of the ground" by this time I was very annoyed and proceed to walk to the kitchen to give it to her she met me and give me another. This type of service should never be given to your guest even if they are tourist or locals. but I hope you take this matter seriously because this can and would affect the company as a whole with a bad review. This was ugly and ...
Read moreMy husband got us one room during our unexpected stay for an additional week in the Bahamas because our flight was canceled due to a hurricane in the US. The reason he booked this hotel because they had access to Atlantis waterpark, (we stayed at Atlantis the week prior) and the rate for the room was more affordable than staying at actual Atlantis last minute again. We got to the hotel by 3 but the check in line took 20 mins and we’re giving cards to be able to go to Atlantis however because check-in is at three and they told us you had to have go and get your wrist band passes from Atlantis by 4 PM we would’ve had to race against the clock to run over to the area where it’s required for you to get those bands… so we decided to skip that and have our toddler try and take a nap and get an earlier dinner. We got all our bags unpacked, and our toddler settled for nap and got a call from the front desk that we needed to switch rooms because there was an issue with the room that they had given us!?? Both of us were livid as we had just laid our toddler down to nap and they would need us to pack up all of our stuff to move to another room. I went up to the front desk and a manager came out and said that if we preferred we could choose to stay in the room they’d given us. She said there was a leaking issue with the AC and that it was only one night stay so it wouldn’t be a big deal. I chose just to stay in our room because I was so angry, but there was no compensation offered for the inconvenience, I noticed our room had mildew smell the entire stay so I in my opinion there is some sort of potential mold growth in that room. The room was an OK space room wise but just felt run down, bed comfortable but the pillows were horrible. The water pressure and temperature were almost non existent for the shower!
We came to Atlantis the next day but also felt rushed to be able sleep until 8am, walk all the way to eat the included breakfast, rush over to Atlantis which takes 20 mins to speed walk to the area needed for bands, and then back to our room to pack up, we put the bags back in car so we could check out by 11!! Ugh! The included breakfast was not good at all. Dry eggs, waited 5 mins for waffles that were hard to chew. Glad it was just one evening spent here. To top it off, we went to the water park for just 1 hour and then some windy weather and barely any clouds for 3 hours they’ve not been letting people back into the pools. So basically our access to Atlantis was almost pointless. Obviously no one can control he weather but it’s not raining or lightning ?? Not sure why it’s necessary for pools to be closed when the sky is merely cloudy.
The staff seemed nice but not enough to make me feel the...
