The Olympic Museum is one of Sarajevo's treasures, located in the impressive building from 1903. The Olympic Museum rises on a slope, and looks like a lighthouse on the main street of the city. Built on the model of aristocratic mansions, it is decorated with its tower. The building was designed by the architect Karlo Paržik. It was declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the architectural ensemble from the Austro-Hungarian period in Petrakijina Street. The Museum OM has a collection of items from the competitions held during the Sarajevo 1984 Winter Olympic Games. Among the many interesting artifacts, apart from sports souvenirs, there are original graphics for Sarajevo Olympic Winter Games 1984 posters by famous artists such as Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Victor Wasareli, Hundertwaser, Jean-Michel Folon, David Hockney, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Milton...

The museum is small and quite interesting with a reasonable range of displays. Some of the videos were good and reminded us of the place of this Winter Olympics in history. The virtual reality headset left on a windowsill was a mystery and some instructions or help would have been good. Such a shame then that the staff were cheerless and disinterested and spent most of the hour we were there sat on the wall outside smoking. We were the only people there throughout and their attitude will not encourage others or promote good reviews. There were many quotes on the wall about the warmth of the Bosnians towards their visitors from around the world at the time of the Olympics. It might do the staff good to spend a little time...

Loved it, and I nearly gave it a pass due to the prior reviews that people left. It was a great museum that balanced Its displays to explore all facets of the Sarajevo Olympics. People are passionate about the ‘84 Olympics for good reason, I watched them during my childhood and never forgot the magic of them.

Video displays, behind the scenes documents, equipment, and details of sports history. Andy Warhol’s original speed skating artwork was something that I was really happy to find in the museum. Something for everyone. Amazing how these artifacts were saved by a very dedicated museum staff. ...

Obviously mustsee for all olympic games lovers! Despite only two small levels, a lot of memories and artefacts. Price 12 KM for adults, our children entered for free. Only minus was the lack of English communication with the lady at entrance. At the base level you will find: Olympics Opening Costumes, memories after J. A. Samaranch, bobsley vehicle, projects of Vućko mascot, a lot of photos and few movies (those are worth of seeing). Be patient, around 25 minute you will see the bobsley competition as well! At second floor you will find thousands of post stamps, medals, gifts. I strongly recommend visit this museum!
