Sedef — Restaurant in City of Sarajevo

Right nearby a few popular museums and in the center of the popular old town area, randomly walked past after a museum visit at dinner time so decided to give it a try - Brilliant food for very reasonable price!

As a tourist you kind of always hear the old saying avoid restaurants in very touristic areas, but this one was definitely a very nice surprise that exceeded all expectations! Family restaurant serving traditional Bosnian cuisines. Very delicious food (looks authentic too), nice vibe and friendly service. Wish I could give more than 5 stars. If you’re looking to try some traditional local food, this is probably one of the best places to go around here. I’ve tried quite a few restaurants in this area and so far this is the best I’ve been on this trip.

This place is tucked away behind a building, away from all the noise and commotion of a Main Street it’s off of (right next to the church). The food is delicious!!!! I had read an article on Bosnian cuisine and panicked that I hadn’t tried half of it - well they had a sampler on the menu with all the dishes I wanted to have! Ask the waiter for recommendations and he’ll help you.

In general, don’t expect much emotion from the waiters (at least that’s been my experience this trip), but it just adds to the charm of Sarajevo as far as I’m concerned. We did leave a tip for the waiter and that got a smile out of him. :) - I guess tipping is not common here? Idk.

I came here for lunch today and I had a pleasant time. Sometimes I can understand the perspective of tourists complaining about being over charged unfairly and also the perspective of restaurants as well (paying staff, food expenses, the rent and other overhead costs to run a business adds up) but I can confidently say today was the first meal I had here where the price justified the quality of my meal and experience. My food (I had cevapi) was fresh and hot the service was efficient and attentive, there was very little smoking (I know I'm in Europe but it was a nice change to not smell smoke) and overall its a beautiful spot whether you are seated...
