Come in, the special of the day is Lies, topped with Lies with a side dish of Lies. The level of unprofessionalism went through the roof.
I’m so sad I have to fully rewrite a review for this place, as normally I would just brush it off and not think about it anymore, but as a patron from 2018 when Klopa was still a tiny space on the main road I’m seriously disappointed in what it has become. Don’t get me wrong, the food is okay, but after you get around some time you realize there isn’t anything distinguishing about it anymore. It used to be about the amazing customer service, the care, the good energy. Now it’s slowly becoming yet another tourist trap. So we tried to call for a reservation about 4 times, finding the line always busy or just endlessly ringing. It was just a courtesy by our side, just to discover that the phone was handled by who seemed to be the owner - a dark haired lady with a black and white wrap dress - using it for personal calls in the middle of a super busy shift. The staff has changed, and it’s seriously, like seriously understaffed. For the amount of fame and customers, something tells me that waiters aren’t paid well and there’s no consideration of their well being in the midweek shifts. Took a pretty good amount of time before being asked anything; that’s not a problem tho, the 2 waiters were working at their total capacity. What appeared to be weird, coming from decades of working in restoration, is that nobody was writing down our commands. We wanted the classic two course meal and possibly a dessert, and full bottle service. We do it everywhere. After repeating the commands 2/3 times, we were told that what we ordered wasn’t available anymore. I’ll come back to this later. So, the advertised Prosecco wasn’t absolutely the expected brand; instead, we were brought a cheaper excuse of a wine - we are very familiar with the brands because we come from the area they’re produced. So that was literally a scam, as the served bottle costs half compared to the Zonin. Then, food comes: just half of it. worth mentioning it wasn’t even what we wanted, but whatever. We complained that a full course was missing, and the waiter just said - instead of saying sorry or proposing it for later - “oh, that’ll do for you tonight”. I am sorry, what the eff? Since when the staff decides how much will we eat? Are we on the remake of the movie The Menu? Just say the effing truth, that you forgot the commands. As we were eating, we saw what was described as unavailable to the other tables. So another lie: it was avaiable, but only if ordered in massive quantities, probably to justify the price. So, hungry and half drunk (we ordered a full bottle to be enjoyed across the various meals) we were even asked if everything was ok. We answered NO. A sarcastic laugh followed our affirmation. We paid and went away hungry and angry, to never come back after attending for 5+ years. Dear Klopa, you’re not The Thing anymore: step your game up since you’re no longer the only no-smoke place in city centre and your service is getting extremely bad. There’s a thousand better places now. Also, on a personal note, please drop the Ladies First mannerism: it’s...
Read moreAbsolutly terrible service. We sat at the table and waiter told us to get up rudely so he cleans it. I politely said no problem.
We waited, and as we sat he then said the kitchen is closing.
I told him he could have told us earlier and he is rude and it’s not a way to treat customer. He started talking back. Absolutely unacceptable especially as we were not rude, were polite, and just wanted to eat. Shameful. Absolute trash of the place. Pity!
All tourist we’re looking at what is happening and we’re horrified at the service telling us it’s awful.
Edited to add:
The attitude of the waiters reflects in their answer.
They mentioned the table was still occupied. It wasn’t. The customers left, no one returned to the table. The waiter was in fact not kind; but I did respond kindly to him and went to wait aside.
The waiter said the kitchen is closing in 4 minutes after we sat back again. I don’t know what we can order and what they can prepare in 4 mins.
The waiter could have politely cleaned table as we were sitting. The waiter could have told us before cleaning the table the kitchen is closing soon, gave us menu for review, or asked if we want to wait.
I absolutely didn’t “go off on the waiter” and told him plainly his behavior is unacceptable and it’s poor service. I didn’t not yell, shout, or say anything inappropriate. It was one sentence where I told him we are guests and his behavior was unprofessional towards guests. To which responded with “you are rude and some other mumbling I tuned out as I was leaving.
And I gave overall 1 star, because no matter how your food is (and I ate there before and it’s nothing special) your service is so abysmal it would make even the most enjoyable meal unpalatable.
Maybe take accountability for your rude staff and do some service training instead of fighting customers on Google reviews.
Shameful...
Read moreYear 4 and I still LOVE Klopa, its food, people, atmosphere and charm. It feels like home with warm, friendly, silly, relaxed staff offering the days specials. In my 4 years visiting Sarajevo I have tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend enjoying a meal here and relax and soak-up the local hospitality and warmth.
For 3 years I have visited Sarajevo and Klopa IS my favorite, go-to restaurant. The food here is fabulous as is the warm and friendly service and chilled-vibe. This is a cozy space in the center of old town with a great view. It is clean and comfortable inside and out. I have read other reviews where folks believe that the special meat platter is pushed. NOTHING could be farther from the truth. Klopa prides itself on the quality of their fresh, farm-raised meat and the platter is the centerpiece of their menu. If you are looking for something other than meat (you are in the Balkans, after all) there are plenty of other options to choose from. The daily lunch specials are inexpensive, generous proportions and delicious. Soups, fish, veggie dishes, etc. are also on the menu. There is a good selection of local beer and wine. IF you still have room after their generous portions they have two desserts that are FABULOUS and pair nicely with a cup of Bosnian coffee. I HIGHLY recommend enjoying a meal (or 2) here while soaking-up the local atmosphere. If you are meat-lovers than please try the platter. I promise you will not be disappointed and will go home FULL.
Absolutely Delicious. Today, I had the salmon in a light and delicious risotto with pureed spinach. It was fresh, flavorful and scrumptious. I have eaten here more times than I can count in the last 2 months. The amazing food (try the lamb chops - they are my favorite) is only surpassed by the...
