Hindliyan's House — Attraction in Plovdiv

Hindliyan House is one of the most beautiful private residences I have seen in my travels. The numerous gorgeous wall murals, wooden furniture and unique 2 areas bathroom added many pages to my impression of how beautiful houses can be.

One area which I am really attracted to are the beautiful wall murals. It is drawn by master craftsman of the days and showcases many parts of Europe such as Venice. It is intentionally drawn in the curved corner in the middle of a wall to give the impression the scenery is viewed from a window.

In addition, the ceilings have beautiful patterns weaved onto them (shown in photos). I didn't know I will pay so much attention to ceilings during my visits 😂

If you’re drawn to visit Plovdiv because of heritage and culture, this is one stellar example of Bulgarian architecture you definitely...

Impressive site to appreciate life in Plovdiv years ago. Well-maintained with period furniture. Wish there were more signs around the house though - we only appreciated many details because our guide in the Free Plovdiv Tour mentioned it when we saw the house exterior.

Things not to miss: Bathroom on the ground floor (this was one of the first houses in Plovdiv to have its own bathroom; at the time, people were going to bath houses) Fountain with running rose water in the living room on the first floor (it made the house smell like roses!) Remnants of a hamam on the side of the house exterior Bedrooms were located on the ground floor so they wouldn’t be too warm during the summer Frescoes...

This is an interesting 30-45min stop while visiting the Old Town. We found an engaging host who was able to spend 10 mins with us talking about the house, it's owner and history, which added to the experience. There isn't a huge amount to see inside the property beyond a number of beautifully furnished and restored rooms, and there is little in the way of information boards to bring the house and owner to life which would certainly add to the visit.

Worth a visit and at 7 Bn was a fair entry price, but don't make a huge...
