We stayed at Hill House Hotel for three nights in mid October, and would stay there again if we came back to Plovdiv. The hotel is in a well converted nineteenth century mansion. The quality of the public space, the fitments in the rooms and the style of the conversion are in keeping with modern west European taste. A modernisation project well delivered. The conversion is very recent. The rooms have a very fresh feel . The entire hotel is flooded with natural light. ||The staffing is in keeping with this set of values, unobtrusive, helpful, reliable. ||Breakfast was the usual extensive range of cold cuts, fruit and preserves served in a breakfast room with one wall which was a piece of restored archaeology. The room was well set-out, well lit and had good space between the tables. The hot food was better than we had experienced elsewhere in Bulgaria. ||The double room we chose looked out the back of the building over the edge of the old town down into the Kapana district, and then to the new town. It has no balcony but the french window type doors opened out onto a small space which gave the room a feel of being very open. It was relaxing to come back to. The bed was comfortable and there was no noise issue.||The hotel is at the bottom of Ulica Saborna, which is basically the main street leading up from the mosque through the Old Town to Nebet Tepe, one of Plovdiv’s hills. The location is ideal. It is a ten minute walk, at most, to the very heart of the old town. The range of good restaurants in Kapana is a five minute walk downhill. Immediately opposite the hotel is a staffed barrier which controls vehicle access to the Old Town, which is very effective in keeping the atmosphere very calm. It also means that google maps give a wrong indication of route and distance to the old town and elsewhere from the hotel, exaggerating it. Basically the old town is just up the hill.||All the staff were both friendly and helpful, which cannot be taken for granted in Bulgarian hotels. This staff are clearly part of the new wave of customer service ethos. The receptionist not only called us a taxi but also waited across the road from the hotel to ensure that pick-up went smoothly.||The hotel is brilliantly well sited for both the old town, Kapana and transport to the bus and train stations is very easy. Even finding your way around Kapana and the old town was easier than some of the guide books suggest. A great place to stay for a very...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at HillHouse Plovdiv and I am thrilled to share my extraordinary experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that set the tone for a remarkable stay.
The staff at HillHouse Plovdiv is undoubtedly its most valuable asset especially Stefan and Slavcho. Their commitment to delivering top-notch service was evident in every interaction. Whether it was the front desk team who seamlessly handled my check-in, the concierge who provided invaluable local recommendations, or the housekeeping staff who maintained my room in impeccable condition, every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction.
What truly stood out was the personalized attention I received throughout my stay. The staff took the time to remember my preferences, making me feel like a valued guest rather than just a room number. It was the small touches, like finding my favorite snacks in the room or receiving a handwritten note from the manager, that made me feel genuinely cared for.
The hotel itself was a haven of luxury and tranquility. The rooms were tastefully designed, combining elegance with modern comforts. The attention to detail was apparent, from the high-quality linens to the well-appointed amenities. The breathtaking views from my room added an extra layer of delight to my stay.
In conclusion, HillHouse Plovdiv and its staff exceeded all expectations. This establishment has truly mastered the art of hospitality. The dedication, warmth, and professionalism displayed by the staff made my stay a truly unforgettable one. If you're seeking a luxurious escape where every detail is taken care of, look no further than HillHouse Plovdiv. It's not just a place to stay; it's an experience that will leave you with cherished memories. I am already counting down the days until...
Read moreIt's a pleasure to leave a review for HillHouse Hotel, Plovdiv which we've recently stayed at. We wanted a couple of nights to explore Plovdiv on our way back from a ski-holiday in the Rhodope Mountains before driving to Sofia and our flight home. I'm bound to say HillHouse Hotel, and Plovdiv itself are both gems. We arrived at the hotel and although there is no specific parking, it is opposite a secure car park which was, by UK standards, very reasonably priced, or the proprietors did say we'd have had a good chance of finding street-parking nearby at no cost.
The hotel is positioned at the meeting point of the old town and the restaurant/artist quarter, and the main shopping area is only a two minute walk. The hotel has an old/historic facade, fully in keeping with its location, yet once through the door you realise this is a modern and well fitted hotel with lush furnishing and decoration. The rooms continue the clean and slick theme, with clearly new fittings, shower rooms, beds and furnishing etc. Balconies in our and our kids’ rooms looked across to the building of the nearby historic area. Free Wi-fi (an absolute essential for my kids) was good, and the rooms were equipped with satellite TVs that are enabled for YouTube etc
Staff were friendly, and the maid service discreet and efficient. The breakfast offered (a help yourself buffet of both hot and cold typical 'continental breakfast' items) met with our approval, and the machine coffee was splendid too. And beyond the scope of this review really, but two days in Plovdiv simply wasn't enough to explore this town, so steeped in history, so we'll certainly be revisiting Plovdiv and Hillhouse Hotel again.
So it's full marks for this hotel. And thank you for your...
