I am going to start by saying I am writing this review on a throwaway google account of mine because based on other negative reviews it seems like the owner tries to hunt you down in her files. That is honestly very creepy in my opinion and I value my privacy.
I played a few of the games here a couple months ago and compared to the other games in the area they are really disappointing. As a big escape room fan, it seems to me like they build their rooms to be difficult rather than fun. I expect hard puzzles when I play escape rooms but spending 20 minutes trying to solve a single puzzle just to get a lackluster "big reveal" is not my idea of fun. Not only do the rooms tend to repeat the same puzzle over and over but they are also all dimly lit and very low tech. From what I remember only one puzzle uses any sort of technology and the rest are all basic locks and keys. This leaves a lot of room for error as the one game I played one of the locks was on backwards and so even though we had the right combination it would not open until someone told up over the mic that we had to awkwardly flip over the lock and input the code on the back side. We did end up receiving a discount for the game error but not before overhearing a manager talking down to the employee who ran the game. (I do not think that was something they should be doing in front of customers, if at all.) I had mentioned all this to a friend who had also played some of their games and they told me that halfway through their game a speaker had died and an employee had to come down with new batteries for it as it was crucial to the game.
Between the low tech puzzles, important items being out of battery and all of the props and decorations looking like they were purchased from a thrift store 20 years ago I am very disappointed. You would think that a company with two locations and enough money to be constantly advertised to me they would have some money to invest into their games. Although even with new props, decor, and technology I am not sure I would be able to recommend them to my friends and family as the games all felt frustrating and stale rather than fun and exciting.
If you only care about hard puzzles and don't mind them repeating then this is the place for you, but if you're looking for somewhere with fun puzzles and cool concepts then I suggest you...
Read moreOur first time escape room experience was as amazing as it could be. My husband and I went with our 6.5 years old daughter and we had so much fun trying to escape from ‘The collector’s room’ which has 24% escape %age. Though we couldn’t really escape successfully but it was still very entertaining experience overall. The room was setup with interesting riddles and clues that are not language/culture or theme specific so anyone who can read numbers/or basic english can participate. In fact, our daughter helped us find some keys as well. Pre-booking a slot for your family or team is a good idea since they are generally busy. We did a walk-in but their team was able to book us an hr long within 2 hours of our walk-in. Our host Jay was lovely. She explained us the instructions well and was supportive through the process given we were the first timers. She even explained the remaining steps of the riddle that we couldn’t crack in the given time and the additional time she allowed us kindly. This escape room experience is great for team building or for curious and adventurous kids. There is nothing spooky/scary or inappropriate that you might want to protect your kids from. Our daughter was so proud of her participation. Overall, a 5 star experience. We are for sure...
Read moreOut of all the escape rooms I've done, this one was my least enjoyable. I played Stool Pigeon which was their newest room and I found the room to have many flaws which to the player was not challenging but frustrating. For one, the game was very linear so you could only do one puzzle at a time. Being in a larger group I found at times I was waiting to be engaged in to the puzzles. So I would recommend no more then 3 players in this room. Secondly, I found that a few puzzles were not very clear on what was expected from the player leaving us waiting for the timed clues (which overall led us to not completing the room). Finally their was the same style of puzzle that occurred 3 different times within this room so it felt repetitive. Although we did not complete the room. I did not leave feeling challenged but frustrated with the discrepancies that delayed our time, due to lack of clarification within the room.
On a positive, the concept of the room was nicely designed and that they allowed us the allocated time to finish the room after the 60 minute mark. I do not know if I will try another room with this company, but if I ever are in the area I may consider one of their older more...
