I rely heavily on honest reviews when choosing accommodations, so I feel it’s important to provide a transparent account of my experience. I was genuinely surprised by the consistently high ratings for this property, as they did not reflect the experience we had. I’d also like to note that I’m unable to leave a review on booking.com

Upon arrival, there was no clear signage or instruction on where to park or how to check in. We waited inside for some time before having to call for assistance. While the owner was very kind and welcoming, the condition of the home itself was disappointing. When helping carrying our luggage up the stairs (after I declined help) the host scratched my brand new suitcase hitting it on the stairs railing. She apologized, but it was extremely frustrating.

The interior was very cluttered, and had a strong musty odor, masked by overpowering plug-in air fresheners. The floors creaked excessively with even the slightest movement, and the upstairs area was uncomfortably warm—while the downstairs thermostat read 74°F, it felt significantly hotter upstairs, likely in the 80s. The complimentary chocolates were melted, and the cookies provided were expired.

While the sheets and towels appeared clean, there was noticeable dust buildup and hair throughout the space. The soap and shampoo bottles in the bathroom were crusted over, and the shower curtain was stained and extremely dirty suggesting a lack of attention to detail in cleanliness. Additionally, the safety of the neighborhood felt questionable.

The room we stayed in was missing a smoke detector. Which is a major safety issue in itself.

Breakfast presentation was aesthetically pleasing, but unfortunately, the quality was lacking. There was no choice in what was served, and we received undercooked bacon on both mornings—raw in sections—along with eggs that were watery and overly oily. Most of the food ended up being discarded.

One evening I came inside and left the door unlocked as my spouse was still gathering things from our vehicle. In that short amount of time they locked the door with no regard of a guest being right outside about to come in. Which was obnoxious as I had my spouses phone so they had no way to contact me or anyone to get inside. Luckily I had to go back out so I was able to unlock it before they tried to come inside.

While I appreciated the host’s friendliness, the property fell short in many key areas and did not meet expectations based on the...

The house was clean and well-maintained, the decorations were charming and cozy, and the location and free parking were very convenient. We stayed in the basement unit with the hot tub. The room had everything you would need and more - plenty of towels, toiletries (including bubble bath soap for the hot tub), a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker, as well as wine glasses for a nice touch. The host was very friendly and breakfast was phenomenal - eggs, beans, sausage, bacon, toast, orange juice, coffee/tea, oatmeal cookies and banana bread, fruit and yogurt. The room was private and quiet, with a private entrance, en-suite bathroom and hot tub. It felt very cozy and romantic. Amazing value for the price.

My partner who is 5'11 was taller than the shower head, but this was not a major issue. It was a bit cold in the basement at first but the heater provided in the room warmed things up very quickly. Stairs to the basement are a bit steep (may be an issue for those with mobility concerns) but this is was not a...

My partner and I had a wonderfully comfortable stay at this charming B&B, where the highlight was undoubtedly the warm and gracious host, Ms. Doan. Her hospitality was exemplified by the homemade breakfast she served us - a delightful meal featuring fresh-brewed coffee, pastries, fruit yogurt, and berries pancakes.

The location of the B&B was also a great plus, with a 25-minute riverside stroll leading to the Falls. Alternatively, there's the convenient option of the WEGO bus, which stops just 2 minutes away. For those inclined to explore on wheels, 2 complimentary bikes were readily available.

It's worth noting, though, that if you or your partner happen to be taller than 5'10", you may want to reconsider booking the basement suite, known as the "Suite with Hot Tub." It's a minor detail, but it's something to keep in mind.

Overall, the value for money at this B&B is outstanding. We look forward to returning and will recommend this B&B to our friends...

Wonderful Experience. Very comfortable bed with nice and soft sheets etc. & the room has a large ensuite bathroom with shower. The A/C is a window unit which we didn't need (November visit) and there's a good size tv on the wall. Just outside the 3 upstairs rooms was a coffee/tea station and a fridge – also little treats (chocolates / gingerbread biscuits). Breakfast was terrific – excellent hot breakfast with perfectly scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, potatoes fruit and avocado. Juice, coffee, tea & lots of cereals & yoghurt on the sideboard. Very impressive. Karen is warm and friendly and obviously works very hard to make this a wonderful option for a stay – we are already planning a visit next summer. Parking in a broad driveway right beside the B&B was handy since it’s such an easy walk to the sites/Falls, so you save on the outrageous parking charges closer to the falls. We highly recommend a stay at Blue Gables!
