Hi-Lite Restaurant — Restaurant in Niagara Falls

Decided to try out this diner for breakfast today because of the great reviews but left upset and offended. Our server Nicole started out pleasant enough but it all went downhill after I had the nerve to say that it seemed like our simple order of bacon and eggs was taking an awfully long time. We had been waiting 40 minutes. We also noticed that the couple seated after us had received their lunch entrees before us. When we finally got our meals and I pointed out that my husband's was not quite right and that I was missing the additional sides I ordered. She told me that my sides were coming and that I should "calm down". I was very calm. I asked another server if I could speak to a manager and a "friend of the owner" came out to ask us what was wrong. I started to speak and the first thing he said to me was "Oh you speak English". Did he assume a person of colour would not speak English? Why even make a comment like that to someone who is speaking to you IN ENGLISH. I tried to explain the experience we had with our server Nicole and he simply wanted to talk over me to say that my side order of barely cooked fried onions and sauteed canned mushrooms was the cause of the delay on our bacon and eggs so I should understand that. I've been coming to this restaurant for years and have always had a great experience: service, food, atmosphere - until now. I was with my family, including a 2 year old antsy boy and it was clearly busy so we decided to sit down at the closest open table after standing there for a minute or two. Well, our server in our section decided to be a spiteful c and purposely ignore us even though our table was directly adjacent to the server station (She's older maybe 40s) don't know her name.

We sat there for 20 mins before the other server asked her who has table 4? No menus no greeting no eye contact no nothing for 20 mins because we sat ourselves and the server decided to make us pay for such treachery! It caused an unhappy experience until the other server who did not have our section stepped up and served us because the other one is a miserable, spiteful, clearly unhappy individual with no class. We ended up having a good meal, tipping well to the other fantastic, attentitive server! So thank you for that.

My family lives an hour away and it was my suggestion to bring them here and as a server myself, I've never been more disgusted in my life. You never leave customers sitting there waiting for 20 mins without menus or any acknowledgement, certainly not out of spite. Hope she's having a better day when serving you and...

This place takes the value/quality prize, and all the locals know it! I was exploring the area on Google Maps, and discovered this gem of a restaurant with tons of 5-star reviews, all gushing about the great food, great prices, and great service. On the day we went, around 12:30 on a weekday, the restaurant was quite busy. We had to wait maybe 10 minutes for them to ready a table for us, and it did take a while for our food to come, but this reminds me of the saying: Quality, Speed, Price – pick two.

The hamburger options were SOLID. They know their way around a burger because they were literally perfect burgers. The kids both ordered the bacon cheese burger plate, and I knew I'd have at least half a burger coming my way, so I ordered a side of the breaded shrimp, which were pretty much exactly what you'd expect. My wife and I were split on the shrimp sauce - I thought it was good as it had a lot of kick, and she thought there was too much lemon. Finally she had the fish & chips, for which it seems they used Basa, not cod. I told her not to order fish & chips at a burger bar...
