Having lived in Kingston for 25 years and visited many times over the past 18 years, I've experienced most of the hotels firsthand on multiple occasions, but this was my first stay at the Confederation Place Hotel. Our room had a huge picture window that overlooked the harbour and the merging of Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, and the Rideau Canal that connects Kingston with Ottawa by boat. There isn't a better hotel location anywhere in the area. Everything historic downtown Kingston has to offer is within easy walking distance. Like any good tourist town, there are several terrific restaurants to please every appetite. The inside parking is secure and convenient, and the elevators are timely and reliable. Staff have noticeably disappeared from most hotels, but not here. There were usually 3 people behind the desk, and the manager was often found in the lobby speaking with staff and guests. I was astounded to learn how many languages that their combined staff are able to speak, Since my last visit, the hotel has undergone a major renovation. Staff kept surfaces clear and clean, and fixtures polished and bright. They offered a boxed breakfast with ample food for pickup on the main floor. A novel idea that works! Kingston is my favorite town to visit in summer, and Confederation Place is now my favorite hotel to stay.

Very convenient location by the waterfront and confederation park. The room was clean, although there is a strong paint smell that lingers all night (think they just repainted the doors) and the carpet squeaks like there is plastic lining underneath. Very quiet room and comfortable bed with nice big window view (city or water). Breakfast is available as pre-packaged box. 🔔 $25 + tax for parking. Although the parking lot was heated, I think hotels should either add the cost in or offer it complementary since most people would drive there anyway (big assumption, of course!). 🔔 My only disappointment was the staff who would rather stick to the check in "rule" than use common sense. I was an hour and 10 mins early for check in and most places don't have an issue with it. The staff made it a point to call that out I was early and made me wait. I pressed on her to check if it was available at least and she asked me to have a seat. I did and had to come back again to follow up and she "checked" her phone to confirm it was available. I was not convinved it wasn't ready when i got there shy of 2pm and some common sense would be great.

Great Location with a Beautiful View We stayed here for one night and it was a perfect stopover. The room had a beautiful view overlooking the tourist port of Kingston, where you can easily catch a boat for a Thousand Islands cruise. The hotel is located right downtown, close to restaurants and all essential services. The room and the hotel overall were very clean. The breakfast is take-out style, but surprisingly complete—I really loved the concept! Some areas could use improvement: the pool and the surrounding area are a bit dated and could benefit from a renovation. Good to know: Pets are welcome, with an extra charge of $15 per night. Indoor parking is available for $20 per day. It’s suitable for regular vehicles and SUVs like a Jeep, but not large trucks. The area around the hotel does have a visible homeless population, which seems to be a broader issue in Kingston. Overall, a convenient and clean place to stay with great access to downtown and the waterfront. Let me know if you'd like a shorter version or to adapt it for a specific platform like Google, TripAdvisor, or Booking.com!

I feel I am in good company of other reviewers saying that this hotel is charging far too high prices for the low bar of service they provide. Forget about the terrible breakfast box that is exactly the same everyday and the lack of basic amenities. The hotel is old and clearly has plumbing issues. All housekeeping appeared to do was make the beds and bring towels and didn't even do that one day when it was requested. My keys for my sixth floor room stopped working several times over my stay and I had to trek down to the lobby and get them reprogramed nightly almost when I returned late from visiting my severely injured husband in hospital. ||My largest issue was the night I returned home very late from the hospital (on my birthday no less) and was met with a clogged toilet- despite me being gone from the room all day. I had seen the front desk agent leave another room on the floor with a plunger the day before so the hotel was definitely aware of the plumbing issue. My MIL also complained to the front desk that her tub didn't drain. A male front desk agent attended my room late at night with the plunger and as a women, I did not feel that was a safe situation. I stood in the doorway with the door open, but still felt there should have been more consideration of my comfort and safety. He was unable to fix the toilet, after many attempts to plunge- causing toilet water to be all over the bathroom floor and leaving me with a clogged toilet and the dirty plunger in the bathroom all night. He offered me keys to an empty room down the hall to access the bathroom, but no other offers were made to help me resolve the issue other than move all my luggage by myself that night and then back again in the morning. ||I was not offered any reimbursement or compensation for all of the complaints I lodged. I was given a "compassionate" rate at the beginning of my stay- negotiated by my father-in-law who had to fight to get the rate below $200/night. When I voiced my concerns upon my early check out (couldn't wait to leave), I advised that I felt I should not be charged the entire fee because of my consistent problems and the agents and managers were unwilling to provide me with anything except for telling me they had waived the $20/night parking fee (robbery considering guests are paying for the room and the parking garage is terrifying) and they felt that was sufficient compensation. My parking fee was arranged to be waived upon check-in for the entirety of my stay as an act of compassion for my situation, so this was not compensation. I seemed to have to remind every employee of that as they continually tried to charge me and those staying with me for support the parking fee. So I hardly consider that to be adequate for what I went through. ||On top of it all, every front desk person I spoke to interrupted and spoke over me as I tried to explain my situation. I understand that they just wanted to get the quickest solution to get me to stop talking, but it was rude and inconsiderate. It costs nothing and takes 5 minutes to listen to a guest to the end of their sentence before interjecting. It would have made a world...

I've recently stayed at Confederation Place hotel prior to having surgery at Kingston General Hospital. This worked out really well for me.

The walking distance between the hotel and Kingston General Hospital is 1.6km. Using Google Maps on my Android cell phone to guide me this short distance was incredible. My power wheelchair was able to traverse this. This is a very lovely area of Kingston. I traveled through a city park. As well Kingston General Hospital is located on Lake Ontario.

Travel throughout the hotel to my room and the breakfast area was compatible with my power wheelchair. I did need to use the parking garage to enter and exit the facility using my power wheelchair. The cleaning staff very graciously opened doors for me before I had the opportunity to ask for help.

I stayed in room 606. With having some modest ability to walk the room was reasonable. The only restriction was needing to use the sink to wash myself with. Considering that this was how I had been washing myself some days at home leading up to my surgery I wasn't offended by this. I used my hair dryer to get my entire body dry. I knew this was going to be the mechanism for personal hygiene before booking my stay. Their reservations staff was very responsive to my e-mail inquiry and thoroughly answered the questions I needed address prior to making my reservation.

This hotel doesn't have a restaurant. A breakfast box was provided and made for a nourishing breakfast. For my lunch and supper I had Swiss Chalet delivered to the hotel. My room had a microwave oven and mini refrigerator for storing food safely.

In summary I have found this to be a very reasonable hotel. . While it isn't 100% fully accessible it worked and I was very grateful I choose to spend my 2 days before surgery here. If you have the ability to communicate, express what are true needs and are able to be content living in the moment this is a hotel you should consider and not automatically exclude because you have a physical disability and are having a procedure forthcoming at Kingston...
