A '5-Star Hotel Service' at the Westin Ottawa This was our second stay at this hotel, and it began on a high note. At the reception, Max greeted us warmly with a genuine smile, noting our return visit. As platinum members, he offered us an upgrade to a suite, which was greatly appreciated since we were traveling with kids. The suite itself was fantastic—spacious, with a comfortable one-bedroom layout and all the amenities you could need. From a cozy bed to a clean, functional mini fridge, everything was in place. Small touches like a robe, flip-flops, and mouthwash added to the experience. The suite was not only clean and well-designed but also bright, thanks to the large windows. Nicole at the reception was equally friendly and helpful. We had a minor issue with parking, which she resolved quickly and with a smile. She also assisted us with additional room keys and was very pleasant during our interactions. It's the small gestures that make a difference—like the staff at the main entrance who warmly open the door for you. The breakfast at this hotel is outstanding. The staff are welcoming, and the buffet selection is excellent—probably the best breakfast I've had in Canadian hotels this year, certainly better than the Delta Ottawa and Sheraton Ottawa. (See the pictures.) The swimming pool experience was equally impressive. The facility was well-equipped with plenty of towels, a great gym, and useful changing rooms. Our daughter had a blast in the pool, especially with all the toys available. After enjoying the spacious suite, amazing breakfast, and fun at the pool, our daughter asked, 'Dad, can we stay here forever?!' Check-out was quick and smooth. The manager, Chad Porter, personally came out of his office to thank us for our return stay. He was pleased to hear we had a great experience and invited us to stay again. After such an exceptional experience at a very reasonable price, wouldn’t you want to come back? We certainly will—very soon!

L’arrivée à hôtel c’est super bien fait par un accueil chaleureux. Étant québécois francophone il est toujours sympa de voir des anglophones faire un énorme effort pour me servir dans ma langue maternelle qui fait partie des langues officielles de notre beau pays le Canada. Après le checkin direction la chambre où nous avons besoin de notre carte pour pouvoir faire fonctionner l’ascenseur (cela fait en sorte que la sécurité est présente et bien implantée, par contre de l’autre côté cela est un peu restrictif et contraignant pour nous.) Pour ma part la chambre est ordinaire. On s’entende que cela reste une chambre d’hôtel après tout. J’ai déplacé du mobilier (chaise, table, pouf et lampe) qui était à côté du lit qui empêchait la circulation et était coincé entre le lit et le mur. Je l’es ai transféré de l’autre côté près de la commode où cela faisait plus de sens. Lorsque j’ai branché le fils ethernet dans l’ordinateur je n’avais pas de réseau (le wifi fonctionnait bien sur mon cellulaire et pas sur l’ordinateur pourquoi l’accès au fils). N’ayant pas d’internet j’ai suivi le fils jusqu’à la prise (avancé le bureau et la commode) pour me rendre compte que le fils était dans la prise deux au lieu de la un. Une fois le branchement fait j’ai eu accès à internet mais via le fils seulement. Plus tard dans la soirée, je me rends à la machine à glace qui ne fonctionne pas. J’ai appelé la réception et j’ai eu rapidement droit à un sceau avec de la glace. Le lendemain lorsque je reviens de ma réunion je vois que toute mes serviettes ont été remplacées mais mon verre semi rempli d’eau avec mes traces de doigts est resté à côté du lit. Sur un des deux lit la couverture blanche du lit (celle du dessus) a un petit spot grisâtres, mais je n’en fais pas de cas je ne l’utilise pas. Lorsque je suis allé sous le bureau pour internet juste à côté de la patte du bureau et de la poubelle il y avait un bouchon de plastique de bouteille d’eau (que je n’ai pas consommé et qui y est resté durant tout mon séjour) L’emplacement de l’hôtel au abord du canal rideau, du Shaw center, le centre d’achat, le parlement etc fais qu’il est bien situé pour les déplacements et les activités. Le métro est aussi au abord. La vue de la chambre n’était pas vilaine et ma permis de vivre de beaux levés du soleil. J’utilise le gel de douche pour me laver les mains et j’étais sur le point aller à la douche après et une chance car je n’avais plus de gel de douche ou j’ai du faire appel à la réception (j’étais un peu désappointés de voir qu’il n’avait pas vraiment eu de vérification du niveau du contenu des bouteilles de revitalisant, shampoing et gel de douche). Après mon appel à la réception ils ont changé la bouteille. Lors de ma dernière douche le dimanche je manquait de shampoing. :( La ventilation de la chambre était tellement bruyante que même lorsqu’on arrête celle-ci celle de la salle de bain continue. J’ai été obligé de fermer la porte pour la nuit. L’insonorisation des chambre entre les chambres est bien, par contre on entends très bien ce qui se passe dans les corridors. Le son traverse parfaitement par la porte de la chambre. Pour ce qui est de la bouffe je n’ai pris que les petits déjeuners avec eux. Il y a un bon choix sur le menu et si vous prenez le buffet la vous avez accès à TOUT ce qui se retrouve sur le menu et même un peu plus. Entre le choix de plats variés comme œufs, baccon, patates, saucisses… choix multiple de céréales, confitures, jours, viennoiseries, overnight gruau, fruits et bien plus. Parlons du service du restaurant et de mon coups de cœurs du voyage au nom de Shara. Une femme hyper souriante, dynamique, à l’écoute du client, drôle, proactive et je pourrait continuer encore. Une employée à avoir dans son équipe. elle m’a laissé une petite note sur ma facture et cela a fait ma journée. Je l’ai recroiser à mon départ et ma saluer par mon prénom et souhaiter de joyeuses fêtes. Vraiment chapeau à se service. Une pensée spécial aussi à Skerven pour son professionnalisme et son excellent service.

Mixed Feelings About My Stay at The Westin Ottawa I recently stayed at The Westin Ottawa, and while there are some positives worth mentioning, there were also notable drawbacks. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, and you can't beat the location—right next to the Rideau Centre shopping mall and within walking distance to many of Ottawa's attractions. The room was clean and generally well-appointed, which I appreciated. Upon check-in, I was told I received a complimentary room upgrade, though the room seemed standard to me. However, my main issue was the noise within the room, which significantly impacted my ability to rest. Starting from about 10:30 PM throughout the night, there was a continuous and very disturbing mechanical sound, perhaps from the plumbing or ventilation system, which made it difficult to sleep. Despite mentioning this to the reception, it seemed no immediate action was taken, and I found myself checking out early due to the discomfort. While the staff were polite and the hotel's amenities are top-notch, the lack of a peaceful night's sleep was a major downside. I'm leaving a three-star review because, while the hotel has a lot going for it, the primary purpose of a hotel stay is rest, and unfortunately, that was not fully possible during my visit.

Conveniently located downtown, a 10 minute drive the VIA Rail. Check-in was quick and efficient. I really appreciated being asked for my Marriott Bonvoy Member number and receiving a room upgrade—such a nice touch. It was my first time seeing a digital system outside the elevator to access floors. Great security feature! The pictures look exactly like the website. My room has a beautiful view of the Rideau Canal, is bright and spacious with a super comfortable king-sized bed. Room service arrived in just 10 minutes with generous portions, and I was especially thankful for the unexpected glass of water that came alongside my pop. The delivery person was friendly and professional. The bathroom was a standout—the elevated shower and powerful showerhead were a dream, and the White Tea bath and body products smelled amazing without being overpowering. My skin felt clean and moisturized after. The linens were soft and cozy, and I’ll definitely be heading to the website to buy the pillows! I also loved the thoughtful touch of my name on the TV when I turn it on and the Sleep Well Lavender Balm on the bedside table. Checking out was just as seamless as checking in. If or when I come back to Ottawa, The Westin is my top choice to stay in. An excellent stay from start to finish.
