We are looking for parking space and we saw a sign $15 all day after we pay, we ask the man where can we find a place to stay for the night coz its our first time there. He said for how many people? I said for 7 people he said for 2 room it's $300. orignally its $179 per room. So we took it. We asked if we can get the money back that we paid for the parking. He said NO! We ask why not? he said," OK I will refund you the $15 dollars but I will charge you $179.00 for each room! Which one do you want?" 😠 What do you respond to that? I am not going to be rude so lesson learn ask for cottage first coz it comes with free parking!😀 As you can see the room has no bed sheets, good i have one. No towels, No rug for your feet to dry. Some chairs are wiggly so watch out for that. This room has one double bed, and a sofa bed. We didnt use the plates, coz we brought our own plastic cups, plates, etc. They have a toaster, kettle, microwave and full size fridge. We have two units. us 4 in unit and my sister +2 in the other unit. The two kids showered after we swim from the sandy beach. No more hot water for me and my husband. Good thing i am smart and i have a big container like a pail so i boiled water and mixed it with cold. I took a shower but i have to limit coz I only have one pail of water for my entire body. 👏👏👏So bring a pail. After I showered and get dressed , I did the same for husband. We managed to shower eventhough the situation sucks!!! Its not easy coz we have to remove sand on us. I think the hot water tank they have, it's good for two people only. I know its not fancy so don't expect a hotel like. Well its a good experience and a lesson learn for the next trip. The important is a quality time with our family!!!! I hope you like it. Do you have a suggestion for place to go and stay??? I want to...
Read moreSauble beach is beautiful and the local residents make it even better. If you take a look at any of the negative reviews they are all individuals who broke the rules and had to pay. Here is a detailed review for a safe journey to Sauble.
Download the Passport Parking App to pay for parking. This is the easiest way to pay for parking. Check out the Sauble beach website about the rules of the beach. The rules are not strict at all and are fair. If you break them, you pay. Simple as that. No one really any type of smoking on the beach except those that do it. Those numbers are now few and far as many of us have evolved as humans. No pets on the beach as well. Another simple rule. Keep the beach clean - again a simple rule. No alcohol on the beach, this isn’t new to Ontario. No BBQing on the beach. I’d love to bbq on the beach but again this a rule so follow it.
The beach is clean and the water is beautiful. There are workers on the beach cleaning it up. There has been specific cultural families (they don’t eat pork) that use tents, defecate inside and bury it. If you notice this behaviour contact bylaw. They will eventually ban tents because of this except the ones that are open from the front. We did not experience any of this on our visit but apparently this happened last year.
The local shops are fantastic and they have some great quick on the go meals. Sauble is a yearly visit for us and we will continue to come. Remember we share the beach. If we share the beach we should respect how we use it so everyone can enjoy it. It’s fresh water that also is something we drink. Keep it clean, be vigilant about it and Sauble will be beautiful for...
Read moreWe’ve been to most beaches of Ontario and we agree that this one is the best one. The sand is silky smooth and the water is extremely clear and clean - no debris and little rocks. It is so clean that it is extremely tempting to drink. The beach gets deeper at a very gradual rate. You can go hundreds of meters out before you are fully submerged… there are some instances where the water gets shallower as you go out. The farther you go right on the shoreline, the fewer rocks on the shoreline and people there will be. That does come with an expense - food from downtown will be far away and thus a long walk.
This beach is the longest beach I’ve been to in Ontario. It can be ABSURDLY crowded (well over 10,000 people) on the weekends even on cool (20-25 degrees) days. The main parking is along the road that lines on the shore so it is not a large rectangular lot like you may imagine, it costs $30. There are also some parking lots on nearby roads for $20/$40. Do not park on the downtown street as they limit it to 2 hrs (if that’s not enough). Come before 9 AM for the best parking spaces.
The reason I rated this 4 stars is that most of the washrooms along the shore are portables. Only near the downtown main entrance of the beach will you find a proper washroom - yet they are still dirty, smelly, and lack showers. You will only find foot cleaning showers here. The beach earns a ridiculous amount of money and I don’t see why it’s so hard to install simple showers and...
