Fun little park, but the level of profit-mongering is concerning. Today, I was caregiver for my 6-year-old, accompanied by her grandparents (one immobile, the other 80 and no English).
I took my daughter for a rope climb. When I asked to get a refreshment from our car, the friendly staff person explained that they usually only allow that for day ticket holders, but offered an exception for me as caregiver. I did not pressure the person - I asked whether she can pass me along to managerial staff so she would not go in trouble. When I came back with water and a coffee after 15 mins (my parents were watching the child), managerial staff returned and wanted to not let me in again or charge another $20 for supervising my kid for the last hour of opening. It was totally calm, I was the only person in the area - I definitely did not cause any bother.
I understand profit-orientation. Greed is the opposite of that. I wanted to host a children's birthday party but decide not to. Care-giving is being made difficult. Despite friendly summer students, this is not the spirit of rock climbing that I am used to.
Also, the park is far too small to warrant a yearly ticket. It's designed for a single-off use and not for returning - a tourism attraction. I am sad that Grey Bruce still does not have any climbing facility... an opportunity for someone else?
EDIT: The owner responded with three allegations: (1) I left my child unattended for one hour, which would be criminal; (2) I molested & intimidated a youth staffer, which would be incredibly rude; and (3) I lied. First, my child was always with his grandparents - no more than 20 mins. Second, the staffer said "I am not authorized to make such a decision" and I then politely asked to speak with someone who is authorized , e.g. a manager, and stepped back so she could do her job. She then approached me and told me it's OK. Is this intimidation? Third, I find it rude to be called a lier - but that seems to be the theme here....
Read moreOverly difficult and scary for small children. Perhaps a better option for teenagers, but definitely not a good option for 6 yr olds. I saw numerous kids struggling and upset. At $40 a pop, save your money. And now reading the reviews. I see a definite trend in not being supportive or honest with those visiting with small children. Also, is there really a need to argue and try and discredit reviewers on herre by calling them “malicious”.. terrible management.

I got frustrated because you were belligerent and insisting my daughter try other activities when she was clearly crying and upset. You are a bully business owner, which is obvious from your reply to mine and other reviews. You are 100% entitled to have the refund policy that you have and I am 100% in my right to warm other parents that this activity is for older children and that younger children are scared using it. You should really work on your customer service and impulse control, it’s obvious you have anger and...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for 6 years with my son (my parents live up here) and we do the sifting kits twice a year. I always get the Mega so he gets tons of stuff! The bag is full to the top. This year it was all sand. I did speak to two employees who said they are using same distributor but said there was nothing they could do. I did show them the bag not even half full and she was shocked. Also most rocks looked like rocks you collect on beach. It’s 52 dollars and it was not worth it!! Extremely disappointed in the quality and the treatment after the fact. Not offering me some money back or another bag. No manager to speak to. I was just brushed off. It’s upsetting as I’m not just here for the day I’m up here all summer so the treatment was upsetting as usually the employees at the shops are kind and accommodating. I won’t come back and I’ll post pictures here so no one else gets scammed and has a...
