Linda was very supportive during my job search. I appreciate how she listened to all my concerns, talked me through my issues, & provided guidance. She helped me refine my interview answers and LinkedIn profile. As an introvert, I find networking challenging. But Linda taught me to change my perspective & approach to networking that helped me make connections more easily. When I was offered a job, Linda provided me with the tools and encouragement to negotiate salary and I was able to accomplish it. What I valued the most from our sessions is Linda guiding me through a period of self discovery. Through a series of personality tests and discussions, I learned my natural characteristics and strengths and how to use it to my advantage throughout my career. This helped me define my ultimate meaningful career goal. I enjoyed our discussions about education and professional development as it helped me planed my next career steps. I would highly recommend Linda as a career counsellor. One final note: What I did on my end to help me get the most out of my career counselling experience is to clearly define and communicate what I wanted to learn or accomplish in each session. Also researching the subject matter beforehand to be able to discuss and work through questions/concerns during sessions. Hope this review was...
Read moreBefore I chose to see a career coach, I felt uncertain about my career direction and I felt like I just didn't fit in at my workplace. I kept applying to the same types of jobs because I didn't know what else I could do.
The coaching I received helped me to figure out the type of work that would really suit me. It made me realize how marketable I really was and that I do have plenty of options (that I didn't know about before). I learnt how to talk to employers about my strengths. Now after the coaching, I really feel really confident in interviews.
One thing I did not expect (but looking back, I am very grateful for) was learning some easy and manageable ways to deal with stress when things got rough in my workplace. In fact, it was only when I lowered my own stress about work, that things began to get clearer about my future and what I needed to do to succeed. Looking back, I'm not sure how far I could have gone if I hadn't done it this way.
The coaching at Careers by Design was highly effective and I recommend them to anyone struggling with a career problem. I checked out various companies before deciding to try out Careers by Design. I'm so glad that I chose them because they gave me personal attention and really cared about my success. It was one of the best decisions I have made...
Read moreI found out about Careers by Design as they were recommended highly in the book 'What Color Is Your Parachute' by the late Richard Bolles. I'm a big fan of the book and I took a lot of time to research where I wanted to get help from. I really enjoyed my coaching sessions and I felt completely heard and supported. I thought I was just going to get some career help but it ended up being so much more. I really feel like I've grown, both personally and professionally, and it was a great investment into my own future.
In addition, the Careers by Design team's process really helped me reach clarity about both my experience and my objectives. In particular, it gave me a new, succinct and compelling way to present myself and in so doing, it completely boosted my confidence. I feel much more prepared and ready now for a new career path. Looking back I wonder now why I waited so long to do this so thats the main reason I'm writing this review - hopefully it might help some of you who were in my situation too. My advice: don't hesitate, pick up the phone and talk to Careers by Design, they're amazing and you will...
