UPDATE BELOW. Still 5 stars, because they have some of my favourite rooms, but read my opinion on all rooms.
Defend the Magic Academy was a great room. There could be some minor improvements to one puzzle, but overall it was well done. We enjoyed the 90 minute game too. Wish more places would start doing that. Its the perfect amount of time to play a game.
Staff was great in this location, I've been to the Markham location before and they also have good rooms, but definitely thought the staff was more enthusiastic and personable at this location.
Update: I've now done every room at this location.
Omescape definitely has some of my favorite rooms. Although I wasn't a big fan of Shut Down or Nyctophobia.
Shut Down we had issues with the last puzzle and didn't seem logical to us even after explained, we thought maybe we over thought it but even with an explanation it didn't seem logical still. The room was pretty good up to this point and I'm sure others didn't have the same issue with the last puzzle as we did. So its worth a try still but is my second least favorite from this location. I'd make sure you do some of their other rooms first. As much as this is suppose to be the easiest room, I'd say Virus Outbreak is probably the first room I'd recommend to try.
Nyctophobia, although I don't think it would have changed us doing this room, I think it should be clearly said that this isn't an Escape Room. More of an Immersive Experience with some shorter puzzles. Our group really enjoys the puzzle aspect more, although the immersive part of the rooms is just as important and enhances the whole experience. Without the puzzles this wasn't as enjoyable or a challenge. I thoroughly enjoined their competitors immersive experience(Which I didn't think I would going in), that game kept us engaged better and had a more immersive story(And guaranteed 1 hour run time.). Now with all honestly the issue may have been that we plowed through this room, we completed it almost half the time we've ever completed any other Escape Room. When you pay for an Escape room and you finish it in less than half the time you have allotted for it, you do feel cheated a bit; maybe our play through was a fluke though. If you have someone in your group who will have fun in a more horror themed room in the dark, especially for a halloween play through then I could still recommend this room. Especially if the puzzles aren't as important to you, because as I stated this is not really an Escape Room.
Virus Outbreak is one of my favorite rooms. The first puzzle took a little bit, but after that everything flowed nicely. I played this game with one of my usual friends I go to Escape Rooms with and someone who had never done a room before. We were able to Escape with literally seconds left and was enjoyable the whole time.
Red Admiral. There were a few puzzles that gave us some minor trouble, but everything worked wonderfully and they were some really neat or unique aspects to this room. Top notch,...
Read moreHealth and safety concerns, money grab and no client centric approach. Donât go to this place! The manager is terrible. Bad communication. No one contacts you before the party to plan for it. When you reach out, the response is very slow and not helpful (sent me invite with QR code that doesnât work and they knew it doesnât work during their transition. So why sent it to clients to confuse their friends? Because they donât care). I asked on the first call if we could order our own pizza and she said yes. After the party the staff told me we have to pay an extra $30 on top of $770 + tax that I am already paying because we ordered our own pizza. The extra charge was never communicated verbally or in writing. Honestly, with tax in, I paid over $800 for a party. $30 is nothing to me. What is not acceptable is the bad attitude and approach from staff, manager and owner as they just want to grab another $30 off from you at the cost of ruining your experience. Why? Because they donât care. Staff were very rude and were forcing us to pay the extra $30. This is robbery! And totally unnecessary! We paid a lot to have a pleasant birthday party and the staff and owner ruined the experience for pennies! This means they donât care about clients. Itâs a money grab.
What is outrageous was after I paid the amount that I agreed to from the very beginning, the staff turned around and used very inappropriate language towards me. Itâs insulting and they intentionally did it after they took the money from my hand. I was close to call 911 for verbal harassment. It is not acceptable!
The staff at front desk are not competent. They sat behind the front front chatting amongst themselves and ignoring clients. You have to ask for something multiple times to eventually have someone to resolve it. When there is a dispute, staffâs attitude was bad and not client centric. Why? Because they donât care about the clients. This is a bad culture cultivated by the owner. I would never go to any of their locations. And we recommend anyone who care about their own health not go either.
This place is also very dirty! Board games are never cleaned and they are sticky. The kids had to wear vests for the Epric runner game. All the vests are dirty and smelly. More than half of kids attended the birthday party were sick right away on the second day of the party. For your own, your kidsâ, your friendsâ health and safety, please stay away from this literally virus and...
Read moreWent with my friends and we did every escape room (But Shut Down) they had to offer at this location (And beat all of them). I'll provide a rating of each room without spoilers.
Defend the Magic Academy: This was our personal favourite of the rooms they offered. The puzzles were pretty complex and they left a little cool personal touch that we got to take home as a souvenir for beating the room. 8.5/10
The Red Admiral: The room's story was pretty good. We kinda speedran it because we thought the puzzles were pretty easy. Decorations are nice as well. 7.5/10
Nyctophobia: They market this as an experience rather than an escape room. The room is completely pitch black. We thought it was interesting to beat an escape room in the dark, but we felt it was a little too linear for it to be super interesting. 6/10
Virus Outbreak: We thought this was the worse one at this location. It's still a good escape room in terms of quality, but we thought the puzzles were simple (besides the first puzzle but we were just being stupid) and the story was kind of boring. Personally I wouldn't recommend doing this one. 5/10
Z Express: This one is a new addition to Scarborough, having replaced Epic Runner. This one was definitely an interesting one, having an NPC. The quality of puzzles was good, not very difficult like the rooms in Markham. I feel like Omventure is following the same formula as Motel Betty, because the flow of the story and escape room feels similar. Regardless, very high quality escape room. 8/10
Epic Runner: I did this one for a staff outing and thought the mini-games were lots of fun. This would be super fun in large groups. I recommend maybe 12 or more players because I think 8 is too low unless you're doing the "stealth-like" mini-games. 7/10 (THIS IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
The staff were super nice with us every time we went and visited. Would 100% recommend this...
