Giving this place one star is even a far stretch. We were a large group of 10 out of towners that decided to take the go train from Eglinton station to Union station, to the Roger's centre for a Def Leppard/Journey concert. As a group we were all unfamiliar with the area as well as the station itself. We are all 45+ years old & let me tell u the staff & service was absolutely disgusting, rude & not helpful whatsoever! The trip from Eglinton to union was great, no issues at all but after arrival & heading towards the exit the staff were redirecting pedestrians & literally screaming at people to quit congregating & keep moving! The obvious problem was that nobody was congregating at all! The hundreds of ppl were simply slowing down because the exit was blocked & we were unclear which direction to go because the staff were not clearly communicating which alternate way they wanted us all to travel. Instead they just kept yelling at ppl to keep moving! One patron from another group lashed back & yelled at security telling him that ppl were just looking for some direction & that maybe it would be more helpful if they could offer assistance instead of being ignorant. On our exit after the concert is where the real nightmare really began. Here we are 10 tourists out of our realm trying to find our go train back to Eglinton where our vehicles were parked & every single staff member that any one member of our group tried to approach for help, including police officers ffs were either rude, cast dirty looks, rolled their eyes, pointed the general direction which wasn't very helpful at all or screamed at us to read the signs! Clearly we were reading the signs & were still confused which is why we were seeking assistance in the first place. Even some residents we asked weren't very clear abt their own trains or which one was going to the destination we needed. As a result we all wandered around this place for 2 freaking hours, lost & exhausted from the heat before we finally ended up finding our platform for the right destination travelling in the right direction all on our own. Then after standing there for 15 minutes on the platform waiting for the very last train of the night the screen pops up with an update saying the platform number had changed. Are u freaking kidding me?! By this point we're done! We had been all over this damn station & up & down more stairs then we could ever count, so we jumped the tracks. We eventually boarded our train. I just want to thank all the unfriendly, unhelpful, useless staff for the lack of assistance we so desperately needed that night & for turning what should have been a good time into a night from hell, that almost left us all stranded. You could really take some lessons from the staff at Pearson airport who may not always have it together all the time but atleast will try to help when u ask. Way to go union station, never again! A little compassion & kindness goes a long way, u should try it sometime....
Read moreGreat station but I encountered someone who I believe represented the station and was totally appalled by her very intrusive and harassing behavior. My phone battery was dying so I couldn't video her behavior but I'm sure cctv would have captured it. While waiting for someone to pick me up after getting off a Megabus I stood outside the building when the lady in the photo approached me and asked if I was waiting for a pickup. I said yes, then she told me that I was in the bus lane and that I would be impeding the buses when my ride came and that I was breaking the law. I clearly wasn't standing in the bus lane as I was standing on the paved area by the planters. She now made it her duty to stand 2-4 yards away from me for over 1 hr. to stalk and harass me, at times directing traffic on a major thoroughfare, complaining about me to someone on her phone several times, harassing a driver who while waiting for the light at Bay street to change let off a passenger (not in the bus lane), having a lengthy conversation with a Go bus driver while he was leaving the station for several minutes and delaying 2 other buses trying to leave the station. I begged her to leave me alone as I did nothing illegal to warrant such caustic behavior. My ride arrived after over an hour of her stalking and harassing me, at which point she started to take pictures. Now, to show you her foolishness, my ride stopped for the light and DID NOT ENTER the bus lane, and there were no buses being impeded but she took pictures of me and my ride. This lady stalked me for over 1 hr, harassed and intimidated me. I felt scared for my safety with her behavior. By her actions, if she is an employee of the station, it appears that she wasted plenty of time that should have been spent productively, and she needs training because not once did she identify herself as an employee nor did she have an id tag. If she wasn't an employee and just someone struggling with mental illness I sympathize. I believe, that if this is an employee, it wasn't her first time with this offensive behavior and so she felt entitled to exert herself in such a manner. I took this photo of her as she hurriedly put away her camera/phone. If she is a station employee...

Starbucks is in YORK CONCOURSE, NOT BAY!
Bay and York Concourses: This is where you wait for and board the GO Train.
HOW TO BOARD A GO TRAIN: Keep an eye on the departure screens (labeled TRAIN DEPARTURES) located around the concourse, when your train is posted match the number on the right side of your train line to the number on the staircase/elevator and proceed UPSTAIRS to your platform and train. The staircases are glass on the outside and the numbers are big white and black ones. If it says 5, 6 for example, you can go up ANY staircase with either of those numbers. As long as that staircase has that number thats on the screen, YOU CAN GO UP IT!
The colour coded train lines (LW, KI, etc) that you see here on Google Maps with directions are also displayed on the screens. Use that when locating your train. The departure times are on the left side of the screen.
Union Station Bus Terminal: This is where you board GO Buses, Megabus, Flixbus, Trailways, Greyhound, Red Arrow. You can access it via the escalator or elevator located inside Scotiabank Arena opposite Bay Concourse.
UP Express (Train to Pearson Airport): Located in the Skywalk leading to Rogers Centre, CN Tower, etc.
VIA Rail: (Windsor, London, Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston, Amtrak to NYC) This is located in the Great Hall and middle of the station. DO NOT go to York or Bay Concourse to board a VIA Rail train.
TTC Union Subway (local transit going inside Toronto): This is where you board the subway and streetcars (509 and 510). It's located on the north side of the station but it's separate from the main Union Station. This is where you buy tickets or inquire about TTC services. The underground PATH system also starts here!
FOLLOW SIGNS IN THE STATION! Navigating is not too difficult if you do read them. And use Google Maps for directions!
HOPE THIS HELPS!...
