Recently renovated, this is a good place to visit on a hot (or boring?) day.

When I first arrived in Victoria nearly 10 years ago, one of the first places I went to was the hillside mall, where I took an amazing photo of a rainbow - one of the biggest I've ever seen before or since.

After that, the Hillside has always been a slightly special place in my mind, and their extensive recent renovations have meant that it's actually a lot better to spend time in than it was previously.

The main facelift was done to the food court, more than doubling it in size and making it a light, pleasant place to spend eating a meal. There's a good variety of your typical fast food outlets, with some alternative choices for those who don't want something greasy or pre-processed.the size of the new dining area means that even when it's a busy day at the mall, you don't feel like your elbow to elbow with everyone as there's plenty of places to sit. Though the noise can be moderately loud at times, the high ceilings mean that it's not unbearable.

While the Hillside Mall is not quite the all-in-one stop that you think it would be, there's enough variety in the shops that you can find almost everything you need in one place. There's a few quirky little places in their among all the regular brand names, and the mall is anchored by stores like Sears and Thrifty's - itself a nice touch in that you can get your grocery shopping done here too.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the main reason that I keep returning to the hillside mall, apart from the hope that'll see another glorious rainbow on a rare rainy day: Bolen Books. This is a local treasure and it's a BIG store to boot: plenty of books to choose from in a wide range of departments, especially for kids. The store also hosts regularly occurring events and special occasions, such as a recent book signing for the launch of astronaut Chris Hadfield's autobiography.

If anything, the main problem that the Hillside Mall has is parking: there's always too little on the side next to Hillside road itself, any time of you. I'd suggest if you want to always find a parking spot that you parked down by Sears and walk a little ways,, so you don't spend even more time hunting along endless rows with other vehicles at the front...

I will never go to this Cali Nail location again and will never recommend this location to anyone. I went in and they were watching a movie on their laptops and one was eating a meal at a workstation. My nails were long and natural and I asked for them to be a little shorter and more almond shaped, she sawed off half my nails and gave me short stubby stiletto like style. As she was doing it I told her it wasn't what I wanted but she did them all the same anyways. I told her I didn't want her to touch my hands anymore and i'd rather do it myself but i'd pay for whatever i've gotten so far. She went on saying she'd fix them but at that point all i could do was either cut them down, file down the stubby point or leave them as they were. I took the nail and filed them myself to the shape I wanted and then she painted them. She started asking about discounts at other malls for employees and when I was done and left to pay she didn't bat an eye and offered no compensation for my unhappiness. I might as well have stayed home, cut my nails down to the tip and painted them because thats pretty much what she did to my long natural beautiful nails. I will never go there again, and be sure to make a point to tell others not to go there when salon...

I am deeply concerned about the security standards at Hillside Shopping Center . Yesterday, May 27th 2024 while I was shopping at one of the stores within the center, my electric bicycle was stolen from outside, despite being locked securely.

This incident has left me feeling incredibly unsafe and disappointed. As a regular visitor to Hillside Shopping Center, I have always trusted in its reputation for providing a secure environment for shoppers. However, this theft has shattered that perception.

I have reported the incident to the authorities, but I strongly believe that Hillside Shopping Center needs to take immediate action to improve its security measures. Enhanced surveillance and increased patrols are just some of the measures that could be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.

I sincerely hope that management takes these concerns seriously and prioritizes the safety of its customers. As someone who values the convenience and experience of shopping at Hillside Shopping Center, I urge them to address this issue promptly to restore trust...

It's recently gone through a renovation, which made it much more spacious, brighter, and modern. The food court has gotten larger, and the renovated washrooms are gorgeous. (I only know the men's, so I assume the women's are the same.) (Yes, I'm aware this is probably the only review the is fawning over washrooms.) There's tons of variety. It's probably the mall with the most shop variety in Victoria. (Take it with a tablespoon of salt, since I did not nor intend to conduct a study on it.) You can pretty much find what you need here. I'm not that type that likes to often walk in malls, but this one is quite nice. I also love that it has a large book store - Bolen Books. Also, it has free wifi from both Shaw and Telus, which is a huge plus. (Best mall wifi.)

I’ve been patronizing this mall since the late 1970s and it has really changed (for the better) over the decades. I really dislike the Uptown Mall, much preferring both Hillside and Mayfair. Hillside has always had good parking and I’ve never run into any issues trying to find a spot at this mall. Inside, it is bright, airy, modern, with plenty of good shops and a food court. Bolen’s Books is located here, clothing shops, Canadian Tire, Thrifty’s Foods, Walmart, Murchies, etc., so you’ll have a wide variety to enjoy.

Centrally located in Victoria, this is a fairly large mall with many different types of stores and services. It also has a large food court with a lot of variety. This is a fairly big mall and definitely has something for everyone. There are many different clothing stores, large big box stores, grocery stores. There is also a large service area surrounding the mall. The mall is kept clean and tidy. It has an open feeling and is bright and welcoming.
