Despite its name this place is not a market so I didn't find anything I needed. But if you’re anything like me, you might find some things you don’t need at all, like a cool hat that says “miso happy”. I asked the cashier if there was a mirror I could use to strike various poses in order to convince myself that I really needed to spend $40 on this hat. She said the bathroom had the only mirror, so I found my way there and managed to impress myself sufficiently to return to the register, cash in hand. Through a brief exchange - the painful specifics of which I won’t detail for the particular purpose of this five-star review - the cashier realized I must have used the employee bathroom. Gasp! She clutched the life out of her proverbial pearls, and no number of regretful acknowledgements proved sufficient to stop what turned out to be an impressive long-distance browbeating I was forced to endure. At some point I must have blacked out, and didn’t regain consciousness until I was halfway back to my truck.. with my awesome new hat. Miso happy! and I can only thank the cashier that was working on [timestamp removed because they might be embarrassed if they just get employee of the month AGAIN, or something]!

I have been coming to this little grocery store/convenience store for a few years. I enjoyed browsing around to look at their merchandise as it reminded me of my days living in Japan. I have also purchased cute little things they had over the years. It was also a good place to hang out while waiting for the shuttle bus back to Vancouver or a table at the restaurants next door. It was also an alternative for having a quick bite with more affordable options in Whistler. They had some pre-packaged sushi or meals, which were fairly standard items of good quality. One thing is I recalled people were nicer in the past, not that they were not nice anymore.

I’m literally APPALLED. My friends and I (born and raised in Canada, ethnically chinese) came here to buy some snacks. We literally had the worst experience ever and we were there for less than 10 minutes. We were greeted with a series of micro aggressions that transcended to STRAIGHT UP AGGRESSION AND RACISM. The cashier was a Caucasian woman who was nothing but rude to me and my friends. We lined up to pay but did not see that a man was in line but grabbing something else from the store (so technically he wasn’t physically in front of us in the line but he had stuff at the cashier while he was grabbing something else). Mind you, there is nothing wrong with that. HOWEVER, we didn’t notice so we stepped forward to pay. The woman at the cashier was visibly upset at us and used very aggressive hand motions to “shoo” us away. We were firstly confused and backed up and apologized. However when it came to our turn she didn’t greet us with the same smile she did to the customer in front of us nor did she say “hi” like she did to the customers behind us. We were the only asians in the store. She was really nice to the other Caucasian customers. Cmon, it’s 2021… Are we still going to be treated with such difference?!?!!! We will never be returning there again. I hope the store manager, who i would assume respects the Asian culture as they are selling japanese products, will see...

We wanted to order a party platter and several individual rolls. We called ahead as they requested, however no one picked up the phone and we left a message with our order. When I arrived to the store I asked if they had gotten the message and the individual working laughed and stated they were too busy to answer the phones or check messages. I stated that was fine and wanted to place an order. I asked him about the seafood platter, however he had not heard of it. I then pulled up their website on Google maps and they stated they could not make it because they were too busy. Astonished by the response that they were too busy for my business (with an empty seating area at 7:15pm) and a half full restaurant next door. They instead offered me to purchase the sushi in the fridge and were not willing to make any sushi rolls. With three workers who were joking around and not really working was something I had never seen before. ...
