Good experience once, followed by a remarkably poor one the second time. Needed a replacement part for my boot, and was charged $20 the first time. Three weeks later, I came back for the same part for my other boot and was told the price was $40. I objected, seeing as I had received the same part for $20 less than a month prior, and after some back-and-forth they agreed to sell the part for $30.
I grudgingly accepted, but felt a bit like they had me by the balls. What got me was the attitude I received from the staff. They told me they were doing me a favour by only charging $30 for the product, which was still more than I'd payed prior. There was no level of apology, but a take-it-or-leave-it attitude that certainly discourages me to return. I recognize it's a small amount of money, but I also realize that if they're going to dicker over such small amounts of money, I don't think it's worth spending larger amounts in this store.
I left and headed back up the mountain, but decided to check if all the pieces needed were in the bag. Found that it was missing a crucial pin and headed back down the mountain. I went back in, informed them of the missing part, and received a pin, but only after they told me they normally charge $3 for these pins but they'd do me a favour and not charge me this time. Pretty classless move after the above interaction.
I purchased my original avi gear from this shop a couple years ago, but I certainly will think twice about spending any more here.
Update (9/1/19): The pin I received when I went back was the wrong size. Luckily I was able to find one at another shop where they didn't even think to...
Read moreI live in Whistler and was recently in backcountry Evo and I needed a repair on my bike. This was my last choice thankfully because every other bike repair shop was booked for the day. They said it would take 2 hours so I waited in the village for them to call me saying my bike was ready. I got the call and went in to pick up my bike and was told by the employees that they couldn’t not fix my bike. When I took my bike in to Evo I showed them the problem and they said they had all the parts to fix it and they would have no issue doing it. When they called me to say it was ready for pick up, I went into the store and saw that my bike was not fixed. The employees explained to me how they did not have the party’s to fix it when they told me they did which is a honest mistake. My problem is that it took them 2 hour to figure out they didn’t have any the right parts. If they did not have the parts they should have called me and told me that they did not have the parts, but no they waited to hours to tell me. I was the first bike in the shop at 9 in the morning for first come first serve. Unbelievable every other bike repair shop in Whistler is better. This should be your...
Read moreI should have been suspicious of this place, as they had open shop time while every other shop in town was neck-deep in bike repairs...
They contaminated my pads and rotor with brake fluid and blamed it on a leaky fitting, even though they had just replaced that fitting. I gave up and left to get a few easy laps in since I was leaving town and wasn't going to waste my remaining hours letting them mess with the bike further. The rotors were squealing like a stuck pig all the way down the mountain, and I had maybe 30% of the usual braking force.
After my trip, I took it to my local shop. They ran a pressure test and found zero leaks. Contaminated pads confirmed. What a joke. Mistakes happen, but own up to them - don't lie to a customer to cover your @$$. Never again going...
