This is definitely the busiest place to be around. There are so many sales and the people are so welcoming. You can get most things there... also a pharmacy to get your meds.. I believe they spoke in Cantonese. So google translator is a need. Oh ya, you can use Google translator as well to take a picture of the product. It will translate them words... although you need to have VPN to use it.
Best time to visit is definitely at night. Because you want to see the roads that emperor and ancient Chinese pedestrian used to walk on in the past. Taking pictures during the day might or might not be a good idea due to the light reflection.
If you explore a bit further down, you'll come across a large Buddhist temple.. they're magnificent to look at.. once again at night. Becareful where you walk and stand - they're people who will spray on your shoes to promote their products. Just don't...
Read moreIf you have time for only one visit to the ubiquitous pedestrian streets found in all Chinese cities, this is the one to go to in GZ. From the hippest to the cheapest clothes, from traditional food to modern fusion, from souvenirs to tasty snacks, this street has it all.
In fact I would recommend first time visitors to GZ to stay nearby. Within a 2 kn radius, there are at least 7 Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants. Number 1 subway line is within walking distance and it connects to all lines in GZ. The street comes alive from 10 am and even after midnight, you still see push carts selling supper, vying for business with some supper restaurants.

I have been to Guangzhou about 10 times and always visits there becuase it is convenient by metro and taxi to have some food and go shopping.
There are many local food and beverage plus McDonald. If you are from other countries and are not familiar with local Chinese food, this is a good place to visit because there are also Thai and Japanese restaurants.
There are two bookstores. Both Chinese and English books are available.
There are some department stores and supermarkets.
For me, I often visit here becuase I like to drink Milk tea at "Hey Tea" and "Chagee".
