Pat Kan UK is an attached row of eight brick houses situated just past the Public Toilet facilities at the southern end of Stanley Main Street in Stanley facing a small public outdoor seating area and the Back Beach. These are Grade 2 and 3 historic buildings in Hong Kong and make for an interesting look-see for history buffs and those with interest in colonial era architecture.
Historically, Pat Kan Uk was built in the early 1930s to relocate families displaced during the construction of the Bluff Hill Battery. The compound is made entirely of red brick with green painted doors. It has traditional Chinese pan-and-roll tile roofing as well.
Residents occupy the Pat Kan Uk houses still so they are not open to the public to enter and view from the inside. However, you can walk over to the outdoor seating area in front of the compound to have a look at the exterior. Other interesting heritage buildings nearby include the 1850's era Old Stanley Police Station and Old Stanley Dispensary (1930s) which are both just a couple minutes...
