Weekday night, very bad weather, probably slow business day, I get it. But being a bit scammy and pushy about saving you money and getting more money from us made us quite uncomfortable. The service felt nice at first. The waiting staff warned us about getting a full calzone would be too big of a portion for 2 people so we got a half one, and indeed the portion was more than enough for 2! Then they asked, "What's for drinks?" We didn't want to order at first but they didn't seem to want to provide us with water without us asking, and we thought it would be nice to order more than just a calzone seeing that they probably didn't get a lot of business that day. But when I ordered the pear cider, they kept saying how the apple cider tasted way better and how it's different from any apple cider I would have drunk from other places. I trusted them and ordered the apple cider instead. My boyfriend then suggested we get both the pear cider and the apple cider so we did. Then they pulled out two big bottles of ciders, and I immediately understood why they wanted to talk me out of getting the pear cider. The apple cider had been opened and it had about 1/4 to 1/5 of it left, while the pear cider was a new bottle they probably didn't want to open. The apple cider was sour and stale with no bubbles, the pear cider tasted way superior. It's sweet and fresh, and had a hint of white grape! Then the calzone came and it's really big. We're glad we followed their advice. It looked really great too, and I emphasize on looked. Because it lacked seasoning or flavour. Inside of the calzone were a sh_t ton of white cheese, some ham, and some white mushroom. When it was cut open, I thought it was cream sauce that was oozing out. I guess they thought the cheese had enough flavour and the ham would add enough saltiness to it (they didn't). Even the dough lacked flavour or aroma of wheat flour. I felt like I didn't know what I was eating or why I was eating this. The staff also tried to get us order some sweet crepes as a dessert persistently, but we stood our ground and said no. I've never eaten a calzone but was intrigued because Ben Wyatt loves it. But it was a disappointing first time experience for me. And my boyfriend who had eaten calzones before confirmed that it was not a good one. Maaaaybe the pizzas and crepes are better??? i don't know and don't want to find out because I'm not going back there again. The French man sitting outside was kind and pointed us to the bus...
Read more60 minutes. 60 minutes we waited, which was probably the longest I’ve ever waited for food. The reviews looked great and we made sure to miss the prime lunch hour to avoid any queue. We got there at 1pm and with almost all tables being full, yet only 2 groups had food on the table, we should have recognized the red flags. The waiters never really acknowledged our existence there; after finally getting them to take our orders, 30 min, then 45 min passed. My friend’s pizza finally comes(which is incredibly mediocre - better off at pizza express) but my crepe only came after 60 minutes. No word from waiters on the wait time and all other tables were experiencing the same, except for one table, that somehow had all these table full of dishes that were off the menu or pasta which they explicitly said don’t serve on weekends and it was Sunday that day (probably due to their menu being so big but the kitchen is tiny). Love me some discrimination.
With the wait and incredibly rude waiters, at the very least what they can do is serve outstanding food, which they also managed to fail to do and disappoint us. Why would I...
Read moreFound this place as it scores 4.6 in google. The crepe itself was well made. The crepe flambe was fun to see but not particularly impressive in terms of the flavour. The chocolate and pear crepe was quite disappointing, not sure if it’s also made with their home made chocolate sauce, it doesn’t taste like a good quality of chocolate and more like a cheap pre-made chocolate sauce in a bottle. They also didn’t put enough sauce inside the crepe and pear didn’t really have much taste itself, so the whole thing was a bit bland. The hot chocolate was quite ridiculous to me, it tasted like a nastle yellow Nesquik which I refused to drink after I tried once as a child, didn’t expect hot chocolate made with real chocolate and steam milk but not in this standard. We might just be unlucky to have a bad experience on the sweet crepes and the high score could come from the savoury one. I don’t think I will come back to try though. Staffs were very friendly and the environment was...
