We went on Thursday at around 9:20am and the lines were a bit long and moving very slowly. We wanted to take the cable car but was told that it only starts at 1pm on the day - not sure if it’s always like this or just a temporary shift of schedule but obviously there is no way for you to check if and when cable cars are running, guess it’s up to your luck.

We therefore went on the train both ways. The wait going up on a weekday at around 9:30am is about 30 mins - again it could be different depending on the day but of course get there earlier if you could to avoid the long wait!

It’s sunny and the waiting area has no shade so it was quite strong sun in early Jan - bring a hat if you can.

The train ride is about 4-6 minutes up and coming down there is no lines and it was quicker.

The views on top is great and the walk up to the monastery is very steep. Perhaps due to altitude some people may feel a bit dizzy so take it easy once you get up there. We stayed for about 20-30 mins. The most is around an hour up there if you take it slowly as aside from the views there aren’t much to see or do.

Bring a bottled water - better buy it before you get on the train as the cafe on top had only cupped water which we didn’t buy despite being very thirsty - even though it might be ok anyways but we were advised to only drink bottled water and certainly don’t want to get sick while traveling.

Again get there early in the...

A fun way to spend an afternoon with visiting family. We had a nice lunch in the cafeteria and after waiting for some hail and rain to pass, we went shopping at the artezen market. After that we walked the path that depicts the stations of the cross enjoying the beautiful trees, plants and flowers that are home to amazing birds and butterflies. I particularly enjoyed the silence and peace that could be experienced on this path. The cable car was very fun. I would recommend trying to come on during the week when the lines are much shorter. Either be prepared for changing weather and rather drastic drops in temperature and sudden rain showers or be prepared to buy a warm Pancho or sweatshirt from the market. Speaking of, they all take credit cards but you can get a better price when...

Horrible long ques i was standing for 3h in line to get up on the mountain and probably i would have been walking up faster than waiting in line because people don't respect the way and just jump in front of each other. Additionally there are people who are buy the tickets with priority and they get special treatment and get in front of everyone immediately. This makes the que again longer for all the others and to be honest for the views on Bogota it doesn't worth the price neither the money. If you are a fundamentally Catholic yes you can do it and go up but be aware of the cue...
