It could be argued, although I'm not necessarily making this claim, that this is one of the most important places to visit and experience if you're learning about Latin American history. It was here, according to myth and fact, that the "cry for independence" was first raised. It was here the vase was shattered in that famous (in Colombia) moment in which the world changed and the chains of oppression with thrown off. In this museum the actual vase is on display--or what's left of it--and the interactive experience allows you to understand a bit more deeply what led to the creation of Gran-Colombia and the modern state of Colombia if not all of Latin America. While some things have English translations, a working understanding of Spanish...

The price is very expensive for what it is. And they display prices in US dollars, which is quite strange and confusing. The lady there tried to tell me that $10 (US dollars!) is cheap and 'the price of a coffee'. Mmm no, even in Miami and NYC you're not going to pay $10 for a coffee! For Colombia that's super expensive, esp when the other museums and galleries in Bogota are free or max $5 (US dollars). I've travelled extensively in Europe and there are big museums in Paris, London, Vienna etc that charge less. Information in the museum only displayed in Spanish so if they're trying to cater to foreigners then this doesn't make sense. If you speak Spanish and can read the displays then it will only take you approx 30 mins...

Mixed feelings. Nice piece of history if you can read and understand Spanish. Foreigners get charged 44.000COD (10 USD), locals pay 10.000 COD (2.3 USD). That's a rip-off of the finest art. Even other places only double the price for foreigners, and this museum is charging x4. There is little to nothing displayed in English. I DO NOT recommend it, guys. It's not worth it at all. The guards were following me like mice follow the cheese. I believe they just wanted me to do something wrong. I felt very uncomfortable. It's way too small for this price. My personal highlight was the garden because no guards were watching me. Toilets smelled bad. There is so much room for improvement. Cheers and stay away from...

It's an interesting museum, with what could be a great story to tell but it is displayed too flat and it can make it a bit tedious at some points. If it could have more interaction with the visitor it would be amazing.... The highlight? Going out on the balcony and seeing the Bolivar Square. Remember, it all started with a flower vase.
