I had high hopes for this hotel, after reading the many 5 star reviews and how good it was, I thought I had found a really good place to stay with my friend in May 2023, and this was my first time in Colombia and on holiday in 20 years, but I was very disappointed with this hotel.

1, One of the reasons I booked this hotel was the fact it said Spanish and English specking staff, but that was untrue, only two people on the front desk could speak English and that was very basic English no were near good enough to have a conversation, most of the time I had to use a translator to talk to any staff member about anything which made things worse when I wanted something or to complain. 2, I booked a taxi from the airport to the hotel from the hotel that cost $80,00 pesos, but I later learnt that was double the normal price of $40-30 depending on the Taxi driver. 3, I was tolled because I was staying so long all tea and coffee was free, but two weeks later that was changed too you need to pay use now they are not free, and gave me a bill, they changed their mind. 4, restaurant food was very bad and very over charged, I could see it was not fresh and it was taken out of the freeze and put into a microwave then served to me, there would be so much water on the plate you could swim in it and charged at restaurant prices but not restaurant standards or quality of food. 5, the restaurant is very open were you dine for meals, and there is a lot of cross table conversation, that is ok and sometimes enjoyable, but on two different occasions and when I was with my friend she was invited to back to there room by men who were staying at the hotel and right in front of me, and in Spanish so I would not understand what was being said, she waited until we were in our room to tell me, I complained many times to the front desk about this but nothing was done about it, it made me and my friend feel very uneasy and unhappy to dine at the restaurant, but I had paid for breakfast so what can you do. 6, I paid for a laundry service three times, I had to work out how much I was paying and what Items I was sending for wash on this hotel form they leave in your room, but I was told I got it wrong and the price was changed to a much higher price, I now I had worked it out right, I am very good with maths, and I could see them making up the numbers on the spot, they just wanted to make more money from me, but once again what can I do about it, if I complain they just smile and ignore me. 7, at the end of my holiday I fell ill with COVID and I had to go into hospital, not the hotel fault, the hotel said that I was not to worry about anything and all would be ok, they would look after my stuff, and there would be no charge for storing my cases and other stuff, but they needed my room (Room 9) for a new guest in a day or three, I thought that was ok and fair, but once I was released from Hospital a week later, I was given a bill for extra nights I had not stayed and tolled it was for storing my cases and stuff, I was shocked but once again I had to pay.

On a good point because I must find something good about this hotel, the room was very large with a nice balcony that I enjoyed siting at and watching the world go by, the room was very large with a work room and bedroom separate of each other, and there was plenty of hot water day or night, the room was cleaned every day to a very high standard and the cleaning staff were very polite, kind and nice to talk to, I often tipped them for their awesome service and how hard they worked, to keep the hotel...

This hotel completely exceeded my expectations! I stayed in the suite which was spacious and a mix of modern and classic decor. There was a small safe inside the closet, plenty of hangers and space for me to put my things up. The bed was the most comfortable bed out of any hotel I've stayed at in Colombia. The comforter was plush and there were extra plush blankets in the closet which came in handy in the chilly night.

The bathroom is modern. The shower was heavenly with hot water, good water pressure and amazing organic clean shampoo, conditioner and soap.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I was able to leave my bags there and explore the city after checking out and also before checking in.

There's an electric kettle downstairs with hot water and tea always available.

The breakfast was delicious and good variety of fruit, toast (butter and jam), eggs prepared to your liking, fresh orange juice, coffee and tea!

Yes, the hotel is located on a somewhat busy road, bring your earplugs and you will have no issues.

The hotel is centrally located to everything you might want to experience in this area.

I felt safe here as everyone that comes into the hotel has to get buzzed in. Being a solo female traveler this means a lot!

I will come back here again when...

It is with great pleasure that I present my review of Hotel Casa De La Vega, an upscale hostal situated in the heart of downtown Bogotá. This charming and inviting establishment boasts a perfect location, being in close proximity to numerous universities, a wide variety of restaurants, and a bustling nightlife that will surely leave visitors wanting more.

I was thoroughly impressed with the caliber of staff at Hotel Casa De La Vega. They went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Their exceptional service was truly the highlight of my visit.

The food served at this hostal was equally impressive. From the delectable breakfast to the mouth-watering dinner options, every meal was a culinary delight.

Overall, my stay at Hotel Casa De La Vega was a delightful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a charming and upscale hostal in downtown Bogotá. With its perfect location, exceptional staff, and outstanding cuisine, this hostal is a top-notch choice for travelers looking for a comfortable and memorable stay in the...

Charming ranchero house built in 1830. Lovely areas to sit peacefully. The breakfast is meager, but enjoyable in a sunny room. The front staff was always kind and helpful. I liked my room and the bed is extremely comfortable. The floorboards can be a bit rickety and noise travels around the halls and patios easily. The location is fantastic, and it's fun slipping through the door as it unlocks for you by the portero far inside. Many delightful eateries a few steps away as are the main draw to Bogotá: the world-class museums.

Upon arrival in Colombia this was our very first hotel and we could not have done any better. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the room was super clean and the bed really comfortable. In addition, the courtyard and overall look of the hotel is beautiful. We also found the room to be very quiet although the hotel is located in the tourist area of Candelaria. The location was also great, just a 5min walk to all major museums.
