I stayed in the Regina for three nights before starting a G Adentures tour through Colombia.|So firstly the good points.|You simply won't get a better location to be fair. It is literally around the corner from the Gold Museum and only a short 5 or 6 minute walk from Plaza Bolivar and the Botero Museum.|If you leave the hotel going left outside the front door and left immediately when you reach the main thoroughfare Jimenez, there are loads of good bars and restaurants on the other side of the road in all the side streets there.|Secondly, its very friendly and safe in the hotel. The front desk were very helpful and approachable.|Thirdly, the room and bathroom were spotless and the bed was very comfortable |Now a few things that were maybe not so good.|It is noisy. I had a room on the second floor and could hear every word from the cafe and reception on the ground floor. Also the doors to the rooms close very loudly so if anyone has an early checkout or late check in you'll jump out of your skin in the bed!|Secondly, the breakfast was grim. You have to order off a set menu so you can't have less or what you don't like and more of what you do.|Overall though, the most important things...location, cleanliness and security, well it ticks...
Read moreI was part of a group of 5 people who booked rooms in this hotel for the night of the 5th November. On the morning of the 5th, I received notification that my booking had been cancelled due to "water". My friends' bookings remained. |I pointed out that I was part of a group but they were completely unhelpful, only offering to find me somewhere 2 blocks away. |For context, I am a 62 year old British woman who speaks no Spanish. We were arriving after dark and the hotel is close to the Candelaria area that is warned against visiting at night. |Indeed, the hotel receptionist at the Regina told my friends it was too late to go out safely at 8.30pm. Yet they were happy to cancel my booking at short notice and force a 62 year old woman into a separate hotel alone in a pretty dangerous area. When my friends arrived, the staff had no knowledge of a "water" problem so I don't even know the reason I had to spend a scary night alone on Bogota. |The reviews also conveniently don't mention how dangerous the area is at...
Read moreStayed here as my first stop in Colombia for 2 nights. I arrived at around 5am and a very tired and sick reception girl was waiting for me with a fast and efficient check in.||Breakfast was simple but also, really delicious. I'm not a big foodie but I remember the flavours which can only be a good thing! The cafe staff were all really friendly and smiling. As was the male on day reception duty who very helpfully helped me find a money exchange.||No complaints on the room, comfortable with strong WiFi. The rooftop looks lovely in better weather.||It's location is really good and it was easy to find restaurants and bars a stones throw away as well as the Plaza and museums. ||My only suggestion/disappointment was the hotel served only pizza and pasta but I was hoping to find Colombian food - easy to find outside.||Lovely hotel though and I thoroughly recommend it. Such friendly staff, they even arranged a taxi for me after I was massively overcharged by an airport taxi...
