Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a wine tasting event that turned out to be a truly memorable experience. The setting was intimate and cozy, perfect for an afternoon spent among friends, savoring exceptional wines paired with delicious cheese and Italian ham. The selection of wines was both interesting and unique. Each wine had its own distinct character, providing a journey through diverse flavors and aromas. The sommelier was knowledgeable and passionate, offering insightful explanations about the origins and nuances of each wine. This added a layer of depth to the tasting, making it not just a sensory delight but also an educational experience. The pairings of cheese and Italian ham were thoughtfully chosen to complement the wines. The cheeses ranged from soft and creamy to aged and robust, each enhancing the flavors of the wine in different ways. The Italian ham was simply exquisite, with its rich, savory taste providing a perfect balance to the wines' acidity and sweetness. What made this experience truly special was the atmosphere of conviviality. Sharing these exquisite tastes with friends created a wonderful sense of connection and enjoyment. The conversations flowed as smoothly as the wine, making it a perfect setting for both relaxation and engaging discussions. In conclusion, this wine tasting event was a delightful and different way to spend an afternoon. It offered a perfect blend of delicious flavors, educational insights, and warm company. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore unique wines of Croacia and enjoy a memorable time...

What an absolutely fabulous experience in Zagreb! I am a self proclaimed Oenophile and so I could not pass up an opportunity to visit Bornstein Wine bar while in Zagreb. During my time in Croatia I really enjoyed learning about their unique wines, wine culture and processing. This experience was truly unique and the prices here are very affordable. We were taken care of by a woman named Doris who was so patient in answering all my questions and thorough in her explanations of the wines, history and regions. She went out of her way to make the experience special including making sure I got to try wines that I hadn't already tasted elsewhere. All the wine was paired with a wonderful cheese, olive and bread tray enhancing and elevating the wines. The atmosphere here is so cool, you feel like you are transported to a centuries old wine cellar including getting to see the oldest bottle of wine in Croatia! I would definitely frequent this place if I lived in Zagreb for unique glasses of rare wines, and even do the wine tasting multiple times due to the fact that Doris picked different wines to create a new experience. If you love wine and learning about wine, or just a good glass you can't get just anywhere I highly...

Discovered this wine cave while strolling around the city, and later was highly recommended by a local tour guide. Huge collection of Croatian wines. Have to be honest, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that Croatia makes really good wine. The wine bar offers a list of wine tasting menu, however, they require everyone (both of us) to have the same menu. And that wasn't what we preferred, as we really wanted to discover as much different wines we could. In the end, we opted for ordering by the glass, and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The staff, Marion, was a French, so we could exchange and benchmark against French wines we were more familiar with. Marion was very professional and on point with recommending us both different wines to our specific preferences. The wine tasting menu starts from 27 EUR (if I remember correctly) for 4 wines and some snacks. In the end, we had 4 glasses each, and paid 45 EUR for both, granted we didn't have the cheese/charcuterie. Highly recommended. Very knowledgeable staff. Will definitely return again the next time we...

Came in the afternoon to taste Croatian wines. There wasn't much information on the website but the reviews seemed good so we came by after seeing the cathedral. They are in the same building as the honorary consulate of Syria. The brochure I grabbed on the way down the steps into the store seemed to suggest that most of the tastings required a reservation, but they were happy to let us try out the "Tour of Croatia" tasting without reservation (225 kuna total) and split the tastes between me and my husband. Doris was the person who poured for us and shared her knowledge of the Croatian wine region. The wines were great, Doris was super friendly and knowledgeable and we spent a lovely afternoon of several hours on this tasting. Each pour was a nice size for both of us to have a good sampling of each wine. They're open late so come after dinner for a glass to unwind. They serve drinks other than wine as well (rum, gin, beer, aperitifs) Great value, nice afternoon, and great people. Highly recommend!
