Myself and partner were looking at good places to eat in Zagreb and this was highly recommended online. We are so glad we went, not having tried Sri Lankan food before. We started off with the fried lentil cakes with mint chutney which were really nice, really crispy on the outside and the mint chutney was nice. To us it tasted like mint and pea although doesn’t seem to have peas in it. Then for our mains I had the chicken Kotthu which was chicken, vegetables and roti bread fried. It was sort of like fried rice without the rice and was incredible, the flavours were so good. My partner who’s vegetarian had the vegetable egg fried rice and also really enjoyed hers. The mains portions were massive and in all honestly probably could be smaller to cut down on the restaurants food waste. We also had a beer and a Fanta and the total bill came to around €30ish. It’s quite small inside with benches and high tables, there are a few tables outside. If you are in Zagreb and like Asian type cuisine then please go to this place and support them, it was brilliant and I wish they’d open up in Scotland. The main server spoke good English and also provided us with an English menu. Thank you for the great meal.

We went for an early lunch, and were happy that we were early. After our lunch arrived, the terras filled up quite fast. We had the mixed apetisers to start with (share a plate, it's a lot) and the kottuh with black pork and buttered calamari with yellow rice. One word: WOW!! That food is DEVINE! (And a lot, so we took half of it home) We like all kinds of exotic tastes, but this was from a while different level! All flavors are so well balanced and rich. And still, it does feel like the perfect comfort food! Service is very friendly and they take their time to answer questions or have a talk. The restaurant is located in a cosy street in the city centre with nice views. The curry bowl under-sells itself with its name, because they are so much more than 'just a curry place'. So really: when in Zagreb, eat there! They Will not dissappoint, I am sure!

People here writing brilliant reviews obviously know nothing about Sri Lankan food. Food tastes nothing remotely like Sri Lankan food. I stayed in Sri Lanka for a while, and been to Maldives five times where they serve plenty of Sri Lankan food. Service is quite disinterested, and the seating is swful if outside as people entering and leaving continually, and either banging door which shook my table and the windows, or they left door open for the wind to enter. In Sri Lanka white rice is served. Here they serve a strange yellow rice, which is kind of like Pakistani rice. And in Sri Lanka no cous cous is served with curry. Cold soup served with greasy garlic baguette pieces. Again Sri Lankan people don't eat this. The cooks were Croatian and not Sri Lankan. I did not want cous cous with curry. Waiter said I could have rice. He recommended yellow rice. I said OK. The yellow rice didn't go with the curry and made the sambal taste horrible, and totally ruined the flavour of the curry. Totally clashing. He should of just left the white rice. Also there was no mentioning of added cost when suggesting I chose this. The tuna texture was like chicken. Did not remotely look or taste like tuna, but was like undercooked chicken When I got the bill and explained everything, I still was charged for the horrible yellow rice, which was not cooked that day. It was soggy and clumpy. Once everyone writing amazing reviews actually visits Sri Lanka, for sure they would not come to this restaurant again Not one item tasted Sri Lankan. Even the way food is served is not Sri Lankan style. Every so disappointed with the food, service and the price I paid.

After reading the reviews I was expecting something really special. The first thing is it so long for our food to arrive. Even though the kitchen is next door our food wasn't that hot upon arrival. We ordered a curry and the stacked dish (mix of bread, egg). The curry was tasty but sort of tasted bulked cooked, I asked for lemon just to brighten it up. The stack wasn't that nice and had an unpleasant texture. Not sure if it was the way the chicken was prepared. We ordered 'are you joking' heat level but it was pretty tame. They have a 'hot sauce' available but it isn't that spicy and has a vinegar kick. Place is nice and clean, staff friendly but overall I left feeling disappointed based on the reviews. It's OK. I've ate Sri Lankan food a lot when travelling there and this didn't hit the spot.

I recently tried the Hot Butter Calamari at Sri Lankan Curry Bowl, and wowwwwweieeee it was an absolutely mind-blowing culinary experience!!!!!! It was an explosion of flavors, combining spiciness and sheer deliciousness!!🔥🔥🔥🔥 My visit to Sri Lankan Curry Bowl became the highlight of my trip to Zagreb, thanks to its awesome food but also its ideal city location and its hip, modern, and funky ambiance. The restaurant offers a relaxed, vibrant, and groovy atmosphere that truly enhances the overall dining experience. I really admire the two Sri Lankan brothers who turned their dream of creating Curry Bowl into a reality, allowing everyone in Zagreb to savor the incredibly delicious flavors of Sri Lanka. I definitely recommend all to visit and try their incredibly delicious unique food!!! 🍛🍛🍛

From the moment we stepped into Curry Bowl, the symphony of flavors began. We started with a mixed plate of appetizers, each bite an impressive burst of authentic Sri Lankan taste that left us eager for more. The kottu was a masterpiece, perfectly paired with cheese that melted harmoniously into the dish, while the deviled selection was beyond words – a tasteful delight that danced on the palate. A heartfelt thank you to my Sri Lankan friend for recommending this marvelous spot. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be this: visiting Curry Bowl is an experience you'll never regret. It stands as the pinnacle of culinary exploration in Zagreb, a place that you're bound to fall in love with. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!❤️
