People here writing brilliant reviews obviously know nothing about Sri Lankan food. Food tastes nothing remotely like Sri Lankan food. I stayed in Sri Lanka for a while, and been to Maldives five times where they serve plenty of Sri Lankan food. Service is quite disinterested, and the seating is swful if outside as people entering and leaving continually, and either banging door which shook my table and the windows, or they left door open for the wind to enter. In Sri Lanka white rice is served. Here they serve a strange yellow rice, which is kind of like Pakistani rice. And in Sri Lanka no cous cous is served with curry. Cold soup served with greasy garlic baguette pieces. Again Sri Lankan people don't eat this. The cooks were Croatian and not Sri Lankan. I did not want cous cous with curry. Waiter said I could have rice. He recommended yellow rice. I said OK. The yellow rice didn't go with the curry and made the sambal taste horrible, and totally ruined the flavour of the curry. Totally clashing. He should of just left the white rice. Also there was no mentioning of added cost when suggesting I chose this. The tuna texture was like chicken. Did not remotely look or taste like tuna, but was like undercooked chicken When I got the bill and explained everything, I still was charged for the horrible yellow rice, which was not cooked that day. It was soggy and clumpy. Once everyone writing amazing reviews actually visits Sri Lanka, for sure they would not come to this restaurant again Not one item tasted Sri Lankan. Even the way food is served is not Sri Lankan style. Every so disappointed with the food, service and the...
Read moreWent here twice during our trip to Zagreb. Firstly, I want to emphasize that the food was very good, both times.
But on our second visit, there was an unfortunate event where there was a couple who cut in front of us while we were waiting for a table was seated first - this couple walked straight up to one of the waiters and were seated immediately when there was a group of 6 in front of us and another couple behind us waiting for tables. There's a sign that says to talk to the waiters to be seated, but the waiters were all busy which was why a line was basically formed waiting to talk to the waiter when tables came free - naturally, one would be annoyed so I spoke to someone who seemed to be the manager to say that we arrived first as did the couple behind us who also expressed their discontent. We were given a table but just as we were about to sit down, the waiter who seated the couple who cut in front of us told us we COULD NOT sit there and only backed off when I said that his colleague said we could.
Honestly, this put a damper on the meal but was very quickly rectified by the male waiter with glasses and curly hair. He was very friendly and made sure we were looked after - he deserves a raise and is the main reason this review isn't a 2 star review.
The queue system needs to be revamped since the restaurant is busy all the time to avoid something like this from happening again. Because this is honestly a fantastic restaurant with really good food and I would recommend it, just our last experience...
Read moreNo ethics on wait time. They ask you to wait at the neighboring tables like idiots and give table to the next person that comes at the counter.
[Based on review response]
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at the reviews. A Google review asks me to rate not just the food but also ambience and service, so in my opinion it is accurate. Your restaurant comes highly rated in the area and hence we came with certain expectations.
Based on your comments it seems you spoke to your staff. The interactions do not justify that we came during peak hour; this is not the first time we have walked into a restaurant during peak hour. ‘We cannot accommodate party of 4’ OR ‘Please split up so we can accommodate you sooner’ … fair responses, we understand. Shrugging shoulders when asked about wait time? It’s not. Asked to wait in a pool for passive smoking and walking away without taking order for drinks? It’s not.
Rahul and TJ even tried to work with the staff to get two tables seated next to each other so we can share dishes and enjoy cuisine from a different country. The waiter kept assigning tables to the parties who kept walking in.
We are not the first reviewers who has complained about the quality of service of your restaurant, time to take a second look at it I guess. Also, thanks for the invite, but we have left the country now, this stays as one our experiences...
