Excellent Location and Service, unfortunately Average food
Tucked away just outside of the old town away from the tourist area. There is this beautiful shaded outdoor area und we had a great table on the first floor. A piano player was playing pleaseant music in the playground. Everything perfect to start a good evening.
Looking at the menu unfortunately almost every dish on the menu was tomato based even the fish soup! We asked the waiter if they had a dish that is not tomato based. So he recommended the Sea Food Heaven with white wine sauce after consulting the kitchen. It was good choice based on a traditional dish and so we skip apetizers. They served bread and nice olive oil, the bread was a real disappointment! 😩 A roll that tasted at least a day old! I did not finish mine and I love bread. How can you not serve fresh bread in a place like this? Really?!? We went 6 nights to different restaurants and the worst bread was served at this place. Even the sea food heaven most expensive dish was just average comparing to to the other places! They served finger bowls with water an lemon 👍. We had a cake lemon for dessert, but the crust was very hard to break with a fork - very average! This place has actually everything it needs to be succesfull but the kitchen need to top up their game more freshness and better quality ingredients, better presentation if they want to stay in the game!
By the way the service was attentive and outstanding! 👍👍👍 if the food can follow the same path then I am back on...

Tucked away near the city walls, but far enough to escape the heavy tourist crowds, lies Sésame. The atmosphere here is cozy and inviting, with an elegant yet understated charm. The staff is dressed in a classy and polished style, adding a touch of sophistication to the experience. The outdoor terrace is beautifully arranged, making it a lovely spot to enjoy a meal al fresco.
For my starter, I had the chicken salad, which was flavorful and well-balanced. The salad featured delicious cheese shavings and small pieces of ham mixed with the chicken, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that complemented each other nicely.
The main course, while visually appealing, lacked depth in flavor and didn’t leave a lasting impression. It seemed to rely more on presentation than on taste, which was a bit disappointing.
For dessert, I opted for the fruit yogurt with a side of quality jam. Though the dessert itself was quite simple, the jam was rich and tasty, adding a pleasant touch to the yogurt.
Overall, Sésame offers a charming setting and attentive service, but the food, while decent, didn’t quite reach the level of excellence I was hoping for. It’s a nice escape from the tourist-heavy spots, with a cozy ambiance that makes it...
Read moreI ordered the gazpacho and homemade pasta with truffles - both were disappointing. The gazpacho was literally cold cooked tomato sauce with fresh basil on top...this is not gazpacho. And the truffle pasta used fake truffles. The actual pasta seemed homemade and they were good, but the "truffles" on top were thinly sliced regular mushrooms with high water content with some kind of crunchy dark brown crust. The mushrooms themselves had zero flavor. The cream cheesy sauce had very subtle hints of truffle, Im guessing they used a truffle oil in the sauce. I have eaten real truffles many times and this was not the real thing. For a 37 Euro meal, this was very frustrating. Finally, I sat in the garden and was attacked by flies the entire meal. Im not kidding every few seconds a fly was landing on my arms, flying into my face, landing on my back or on my plate. I know it is an outside venue, so theres little the staff could do about it, aside from bringing out some fans...but it completely ruined my...
