Nyboder — Attraction in Copenhagen Municipality

I was only in Copenhagen for the day and made sure to stop by Nyboder, a spot I had seen on a previous visit 10 years ago but had almost forgotten about until I was back in the city. I'm so glad I returned—Nyboder is one of those uniquely Danish sights that really sticks with you once you've seen it again. Originally built under the direction of King Christian IV, these vibrant yellow row houses were once barracks for Danish Navy sailors and their families. Today, they’re still inhabited, and although the buildings are uniform in design, that’s part of their charm. The neat rows of identical façades create a sense of order and peace—and honestly, it’s the kind of place I could imagine living in. Nyboder is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Copenhagen. It is marked by its yellow houses, green and small doors and windows, repeated countless times over several blocks. It's very cute!
