Nestled in the heart of Copenhagen, Restaurant Maison offers a delightful escape into the world of classic French cuisine. My colleagues and I had the pleasure of dining there last night, and it was an evening marked by exquisite flavors, attentive service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

The Menu

White Asparagus & Sauce Mousseline: Our culinary journey began with a seasonal delight—tender white asparagus paired with a rich and velvety sauce mousseline. The dish was a perfect embodiment of simplicity and elegance, showcasing the chef's mastery of traditional French techniques. Complemented by the 2021 Riesling Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr from Domaine Goepp, the pairing was a symphony of freshness and subtlety, enhancing the asparagus's delicate flavors.

Chicken Fricassée: For the main course, we indulged in a Chicken Fricassée, featuring confited chicken and a medley of vegetables, all enveloped in a luscious sauce moutarde. The dish was hearty and comforting, with each element cooked to perfection. The 2022 Sancerre Rouge Pinot Noir from Paul Prieur & Fils was an inspired choice, offering a light, fruity contrast that beautifully balanced the richness of the fricassée.

Baba au Rhum: Our meal concluded with the classic Baba au Rhum, accompanied by rhubarb compote and crème chantilly. This dessert was a delightful end to our evening, with the tangy rhubarb and airy chantilly providing a refreshing counterpoint to the rum-soaked baba.

The Experience The ambiance at Maison is charmingly reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, with its elegant decor and cozy setting. The service was impeccable, with the staff demonstrating both knowledge and enthusiasm in guiding us through the menu and wine selections. Their recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our dining experience significantly.

I was here this past Saturday night with my parents. The room & vibe is beautiful; it's not too loud, nor too stuffy, it is that perfect balance between feeling present with the people you're dining while feeling and being in a place that is lively & happening.

After we ordered our meal and were served wine, one of the people in my party wasn't not feeling well and had to be taken home immediately. So we had to get the check and leave... the way in which the restaurant handled the situation was best-in-class. True service..

Watch out for the mineral water! The Walter Asked if we wanted plain or bubble water. We choose bubble. Not fancy just tap water in a bottle made in the restaurant. No information that it would cost anything. When we had finished our meal another bottle came unasked to our table. As we had finished our meal we didn’t touch it. To our surprise the water - both bottles) was charged (you can see it in the photo) at a very unreasonable price. Of course we did not add any extra. This way of charging extra did leave us in a bad mood. So watch out when they...
