HODHOD SOLIMAN HOT Air Balloon Rides Luxor Egypt — Attraction in Luxor City

I would call my experience with Hodhod as 100% frustration. This Christmas I invited my Mom to Egypt. Sunrise flight on hot air balloon had to be a gift. We checked numerous feedback and we're sure that Hodhod is a reputable and a trustworthy company. All arrangements were made in advance: we contacted the company directly and offered to pay a deposit if needed. Late evening the day before flight the representative contacted us and asked about copy of the documents; we sent them immediately. After 1.5 hour the representative sent us a pick up time... Instead of taking off at 6 am to see sunrise, we had to be picked up from the hotel at 6:30! Is it possible? Of course not, unless you were "sold" to another company! We called many times to the company and were assured that they will do their best to give us what we have booked: nothing was done! At 6:30 we were picked up and brought to the boat right in front of our hotel, where we spent 1 EXTRA hour waiting for all other tourists! Finally we have arrived to the station. Balloons were taking off one after another, but there was no other balloon! We used to stay with a group of tourists who were cheated by other agencies. I called Hodhod - no answer. Finally I found the guy who took us from the hotel, and he told the truth: he is not from the Hodhod, and he has no responsibilities; if we don't like something, we are free to go as long as they still didn't take money from us! Really? I booked night in Luxor and drove in total 600 km just to sent like this by a salesman???? Is that what you call service??? We took off after 8 am, we were on the last balloon... In general flight was fine, but impression was ruined. When we landed representative from Hodhod called me back: you didn't book a sunrise flight! - No, I did!, Sorry, if you didn't like we return you money! - come on, I live in Egypt for 20 years, leave this heart breaking promises...

I frankly didn’t expect it to be as amazing as it was. From the super friendly tour operator Mohamed Fawzy who picked us at the hotel, to the bus driver Abdallah, to Bakr the pilot who greeted us at the motor boat ( btw you are offered self serve free tea in disposable cups there ) and was very patient explaining the safety measures to my young kids ( 8 and 11, and asking us all the show him the safety movements in case needed) and gave us an impeccably smooth landing, to the great photographer/ videographer Islam and Khaled who were capturing all the moments throughout which was super helpful so not only one can enjoy the ride undistracted taking photos etc, but also my kids pose for others but don’t like me taking their photos 🙁 was such a lovely add on (optional usb for purchase , arrives to your hotel after the tour with the entire video and all photos for a very reasonable price ($ less than $30), we live in the USA and at this price this doesn’t give you just a couple of photos by an equally professional photographer. I truly recommend this ride and most of all the company which runs it - HOD HOD , has a very safe ride record over the years, masks are mandatory once people are a bit closer while still open air in the balloon basket , safety is an important factor for our family when choosing activites and this company takes safety very seriously I was really impressed with that. Will sure try it again next time with my husband who was unable to make it this time. So looking forward to another chance to redo it. Our day began with our wonderful guide, Yousry, who was an absolute star. He met us right at our hotel, expertly managed the boat crossing over the Nile, and then a quick drive to the launch site. Yousry’s preparation was thorough; he clearly explained all the safety rules, making everyone feel comfortable and ready for the ascent. His friendly and professional manner set a great tone for the entire morning.

Once at the launch site, we were in the hands of Captain Ali, a truly exceptional pilot. With 16 years of experience, his knowledge and skill were immediately evident. Not only was he incredibly reassuring and professional, but he was also genuinely funny, keeping us entertained with his commentary throughout the flight. Cruising over the ancient wonders of Luxor at sunrise was a magical sight, and Captain Ali made sure we had perfect views. Best of all, he brought us down with a very safe and smooth landing—a testament to his extensive experience.

The entire staff was great and friendly. We were treated so well from start to finish. The coordination between the hotel pickup, the river crossing, the safety briefing, and the flight itself was flawless.
