If you're in the mood to try some local Alsace wines, go to Maison Emile Beyer for a tasting (free if you're buying a bottle or two). Maison Emile Beyer's shop and tasting room is conveniently located in the middle of Eguisheim. One of the cutest towns in France!

In my opinion, Maison Emile Beyer gets more foot traffic than other wineries thanks to Rick Steves's recommendation and their location. You won't need an appointment and walk-ins are almost always welcome. Super convenient and the reason I ended up at Emile Beyer. I tend to go for smaller producers and less touristy, but Maison Emile Beyer saved the day on my last minute trip to Eguisheim.

Our host, Luciana, was patient and poured us a couple of their wines in their outdoor courtyard. Almost everything is available on the menu to taste, you just need to ask! Overall, I didn't find as many of their wines that fits my palette, but it is always an adventure trying new wines. English is somewhat limited, but as long as you know what you like to drink, your tasting should be a breeze!

I ended up purchasing some of their Cremants, which was extremely affordable (approx €7). If you're in town, don't miss out on the best white wine in the world! Till next time, Santé!

PS make sure to taste the dry wines...

During our visit to Colmar, we drank Domaine Emile Beyer's Pinot Noir from Eguisheim at Maison Rouge restaurant. The following day, we went to Emile Beyer’s tasting room. Their Pinot Noir from Eguisheim is a delightful expression of Alsace, often balancing vibrant fruitiness with a beautiful structure. The wine showcased bright red fruit notes, such as cherry and raspberry, which is characteristic of the region's Pinot Noir. Coupled with a good body and an elegant, well-integrated flavor profile, this wine demonstrates the Beyer family's commitment to crafting Pinot Noir that is both immediately appealing and sophisticated. The family has been making wine there since 1580, and today, they farm their 17 hectares (about 42 acres) using certified organic and biodynamic methods, which really helps their wines express the unique terroir...

We had a wine tasting with a knowledgelable guide. 29 euros. We were just put in tall bar chairs, orange ones, you can see in some pic, not comfortable for a wine tasting. We thought we would see some wine caves, but it was only wine tasting and good explanation of region and wines. Our favourite wines, this is a personal taste were the riesling for 12.8 eur per bottle. The grand crus to our taste quite dry-sec. Our guide was jumping from us to another couple for explanations what felt a bit on a rush. As a wine tasting I would not personally recommend as felt rushed and uncomfortable and felt more like drinking wine in a bar. Giving the points to the guide that was...

I had a wonderful wine tasting at this well-known wine house in Eguisheim. They started us with a Crémant d’Alsace and moved on to try some of their Rieslings. We began with a Tradition, then a Lieu-Dit, and finally a Grand Cru. It was great to taste and compare the same grape variety at different appellation levels. We were also served a Lieu-Dit Pinot Gris, which was nice to have as a reference on their quality with another grape variety. The staff here is highly competent, knowledgeable and helpful. The place is easily accessible with some seating available. It also seems to be open a little later than most wine houses in town, which was very convenient for us late comers.

Located in the charming village of Eguisheim. Just 30 minutes away from Colmar. We received a warm welcome from Fanny on a cold Monday. We had a total of 6 different wine tastings: Pinot Blanc, Riesling, a blend, Pinot Noir and a cremant. She provided a detailed and structured explanation of the Alsace wine region and then drill down to Eguisheim. It provided us a clear overview. Highly recommended visit if one is in Eguisheim. Educational, interesting and at the same time one gets to enjoy some local wines.

We had such a great experience here. We didn't get a tour with wine barrels or so, but we had a great tasting with equally interesting information about the grapes, wines, places where the grapes grow, the flavors, the process of making wine etc. Our host was so lovely and she knew so much, she really took the time explaining everything and choosing wines which we were more to our liking. We would surely recommend this place and drink these wines at any good restaurant in Colmar!
