I walked past this museum Saturday, didn’t know it existed, and noted that it was 440, too late to get in a visit before 5. I came back on Sunday, and… two things. 1, it’s really fun to hit a museum on a free day by accident, and 2, my feeling walking into that first room was a giant wow

Even if I skipped all of the other parts, it was worth it to go to this part of town to see that room and experience its grandeur. I’m going to tell you the song I was listening to in my headset in case you want to replicate the beauty: “Something to shout about” from the musical Boop. I hope that you’ll consider doing that, because it added to the magic for me.

There were plenty of interesting things to see, but that’s the moment that will stay with me.

They had some jewelry pieces and artifacts that in my head weren’t an obvious fit for a library museum, but again, I sort of stumbled upon it and didn’t do any deep research, just decided I would go the next day. For me this was about an hour...

A phenomenal little museum in a beautiful library! I'm not usually an antiquities person but their collection is magnificent. The interactive displays were so well done that it actually made me interested in red-figure pottery! The temporary exhibit on revolutions in Paris was a master class in museum design and very informative as an American whose knowledge of French history begins and ends in the 1790s. In addition to its collections, the library is full of wonderful architecture from the 17th through 21st centuries; I stared at the mythology frescoes on the ceiling of the Mazarin Gallery for a good 20 minutes.

Not a "must-see" like the Louvre or Musée d'Orsay, but if you're a museum nerd like me, you'll have a great time. Plus it's free if...

"MADAME! ON À EST PARIS ICI! IL Y A DES TOURISTES ! MADAME ON EST DANS UN MUSÉE ICI ! C'EST AUSSI UN LIEU TOURISTIQUE ! MADAME! LES TOURISTES PAR DEFINITION VIENNENT D'AILLEURS! MADAME! PAR DÉFINITION LES TOURISTES NE COMPRENNENT PAS NOTRE LANGUE! MADAME!

A very beautiful museum and library in Paris. I would say THE BEST. They have manuscripts from several regions over the world. I saw rigveda and Mahabharata for the first time in my Life in this museum. They also display a lot of French culture. It also has a really beautiful library. A must visit when in Paris.
