This was my first and my fiancee’s third trip to Paris. Our trip was over Christmas and we were anticipating seeing Paris in all her splendor. Both of us are retired and wanted a hotel that was centrally located to minimize walking. I did a bit of research and found Hotel Therese. The location was perfect, the price was within our budget, and we just had a good feeling about this boutique hotel.
We could not have selected a more comfortable and gracious place to stay. The hotel is a short walk from the Louvre, the Opera House, Eglise Saint Roch(Christmas Mass), Le Royal Opera restaurant(delicious French onion soup), and the Monoprix market(good wine selection). A marvelous Korean restaurant, JanTchi, was just across the street(they have a Michelin Star). Shopping was almost too accessible with Rue Saint-Honore only blocks away(Channel, Dior, Hermes,...). A slightly longer walk over the Seine will find you at Notre Dame(the front façade is still intact). We walked extensively at all hours of the day and night and always felt safe. In fact, we met a young lady named Layla at 11:00 pm and talked with her for over 30 minutes about her life in Paris.
Upon entering the front door of the hotel we were greeted warmly by Said, the concierge, who assisted in our check-in. The elevator quickly took us to our fourth floor room. The room, “Tradition”, was cozy but large enough to meet our needs. The room was spotless, the bed was just right(not too firm/not too soft), and the bath had plenty of hot water. The towels and linen were luxurious and plentiful. We overlooked the courtyard but rooms with a street view are available. The room was soundproof as we heard no noises at night.
Their staff is fluent in English(our skills in French are rudimentary). The manager, Fanny, was extremely helpful and responsive in making our reservations online from Tucson, AZ. The front desk personnel, especially Viviana, were helpful in guiding us to various sights and procuring discounted tickets to attractions. A quick story, on the first night I took our rental car to a parking garage and got lost walking back to the hotel(my phone died, Paris streets are winding, it was late at night, I took the wrong turn...). It should have been a 5 minute walk, so after 45 minutes Said was very concerned and was ready to call out the gendarmes. [Note: If you need to park a car, use Parking Public le Louvre and reserve on line].
The breakfast was scrumptious and plentiful. The scrambled eggs were special as were all the varieties of breads offered. We were late risers so we looked forward to a 9:30 am breakfast each morning. The other guests we met in the restaurant were from all over the world, most return customers.
The lobby is altogether inviting with two sitting areas. Afternoon refreshments are served. A great place to watch the world go by and meet fellow travelers.
We can’t say enough nice things about our stay at Hotel Therese. We highly recommend the hotel and when back in Paris we will stay...
Read moreMy Husband and I traveled to Paris for our Honeymoon (along with other cities and countries). We stayed at Hotel Therese for two nights. The ladies at the front desk were kind, attentive and communicated well. We were given a room on the third floor - upon checking in my Husband and I decided to hit the town and explore a little bit of Paris on foot. I wanted to walk down the stairs as the elevator is extremely small and I was feeling claustrophobic when we went upstairs the first time. Upon walking down the stairs, I slipped - not because I was clumsy but because the stairs are not straight. I'm not sure how to explain this but the carpet was slippery and the stairs were slanted. I started bleeding from my knuckles and injured the lower part of my bum pretty badly. What a way to start off the honeymoon huh? This literally happened DAY 1 within the hour of us checking in. Needless to say my Husband was upset because of the condition of the stairs and asked the lady at the front desk for alcohol for the wounded area and a Band-Aid. The lady was not concerned at all and behaved as if it was a normal thing. My Husband also asked for icepacks which was provided to us.
I was quite disappointed that the Hotel did not do anything to remedy the situation or provide any sort of compensation for their negligence. Additionally, the room was SUPER SMALL! I mean like, really, really small. Guys, dish out a little more money and stay somewhere better please. I regret booking this hotel and am thankful we were only there for two nights. Would never...
Read moreI read about this hotel in a Sydney paper many years ago. The name stayed with me and I can't believe I made it there.. It did not disappoint. So close to the Louvre and then a walk through the parks. Then a bit of a walk to Champs Elysee, Arc de Triumph and Eiffel Tower also other way the Notre Dame. Close to cafes ..of course. I loved my attic style room. Just gorgeous and so Parisian tho probably more suited to a female. The only negative was that the shower head was small. But most of all the staff were lovely and so welcoming, - always a happy Bonjour Madame for me. Complimentary afternoon tea ,coffee with cake is available each afternoon as is refreshing water all day. Drinks are open each evening. Lovely courtyard area. I did not have breakfast as I only had a 4 night stay and wanted to be out early each day. Next time however I will have a longer stay. Can't wait for my return trip. I was a solo, traveller, female over 65. Recommend Eurostar too,. Finally my stay was so, so much better than a large hotel even a 5 star one. You can stay in one of those anywhere. For Paris, live like a...
