This is one of the largest public squares in the historic city centre of Strasbourg. Designed in the second half of the 17th-century as part of the urban development project that included the construction of the historic L'Aubette building here at the square.
Originally named Place L'Armes, the square took its present name later on after the erection of the General Kléber in the centre of the square in 1840. Presently the square holds various open markets, events and annual holiday celebrations including the Christmas Market.

Park the car anywhere in park house and walk towards the old town, situated in between two branches of river Ill ( river dives a two arms and after downtown unites in one ). In the centre is a big yard like a football field. Trees around, water fountains in the middle. People chilling there, you can sit somewhere where you like. You have a beautiful view on the top of the mighty 800 years old Church of Notre Dame. This place is the Center of old town. Read moreWe were in Strasbourg from Saturday to Monday, I read about the place and thought it was "the place to go".. but there is not really anything in the square and all of the shops were chain shops etc. Maybe Kléber includes the surrounding streets? Because the rest of the streets and surrounding area are full of lovely restaurants and bars etc, it's great to sit at a restaurant and have a lovely view of the cathedral. But again in the actual square it was honestly very bare, the rest of the city is so much better, literally the only thing about Strasbourg that I was a bit " oh I thought this would be better" the rest of it...
