Very helpful and friendly staff. The antiquities collection is the better of the two collections in terms of quality. While the paintings and renaissance sculpture are good there are few masterpieces. The main exception being the Tilman Riemenschneider works.

Ein großartiges Museum auf zwei Stockwerken in der altehrwürdigen Residenz. Im zweiten Stock ist die Neuere Abteilung mit Gemäldegalerie und Graphischer Sammlung, im dritten Stock die Ältere Abteilung mit der Antikensammlung. Allein dort befinden sich Objekte aus vier Jahrtausenden aus Griechenland, Ägypten, dem östlichen Mittelmeerraum und den ehemaligen römischen Provinzen. Gemälde und Grafiken reichen vom Mittelalter bis heute und stellen ein unglaubliches Spektrum dar. Der Eintritt ist frei - außer in Sonderausstellungen.
