The Kilkenny Famine Experience — Attraction in The Municipal District of Kilkenny City

Very well thought through and thought provoking self guided tour. The help desk is a little hard to find as the signs just stop at one point. Best way to find it is to just look for Next. You then use the red phone to call security who come and meet you within minutes. They give you headphones, a handset and a map. At each of the 9 points of the tour you get a short recording and / or video. It’s really informative and very well designed....

Very informative and interesting. If you haven't been before and don't know what you're looking for it's not too easy to find. Go straight to the customer service desk in the shopping centre, near the food court. This is the starting point and where you pick up an interactive screen, that gives you audio and video prompts. Unbelievable!! would highly recommend this. It is based in the shopping center and surrounding area as for this is where the famine work house was. You wear earphones for the audio and a small video screen for pictures etc this screen is the size of a mobile phone. Very informative and very sad history. Definitely a must for people to go to and hard to believe...
