Monte Solaro itself deserves a 5 star rating for the unbeatable views, but this rating is for the chair lift itself and thd counter staff who sells the tickets. The counter staff was a lot friendlier and chatty with caucasian tourists just before us, taking his time to assure them that the chair lift is not scary, but was curt with us non-caucasians. Even though we greeted him with a smile and a buongiorno before we placed our order, he did not return the greeting or smile, and was a bit dismissive.
The chair lift itself was a bit 'adventurous' - the safety bar in front of you is a bit filmsy. There is no safety net under the chairs near the end points, which some chair lifts I've taken in other countries have. I personally would not recommend going on if you have a fear of heights or if there are strong winds on the day of your visit.
On the plus side, the chair lift was very smooth throughout the ride up and down, there were no unexpected jerks or stops, there are key-based lockers at the bottom that you can use at no extra charge to stow your heavy or bulky bags that you do not want to bring onto the chair lift, you can stay on top of the mountain for as long as you want (if you took the return ticket, you would have to go down within the chair lift's operating hours), there are enough public toilets at the summit, and the summit viewing platform leads to the same trekking paths that hikers use to summit Monte Solaro on foot, so you can walk onto the paths to get even...
Read moreThis lift is dangerous because of the negligence of the employees/staff. You are basically pushed into a seat and then they slam down the "safety bar" without caution. They slammed my finger which caused bleeding and bruising, then proceeded to send me on the lift. Once at the top of the lift I informed one of the other employees my finger was injured by the staff, nothing was done. I had to ask at the bar/restaurant affiliated with the chair lift and was given one bandaid. Once at the office I asked to speak to the manager, who then proceeded to ignore me multiple times. I explained the staff slammed the safety bar on my finger and caused bleeding and bruising. To which his response was to shrug his shoulders and go about his business. At this point I was extremely upset, there had been no apologies given, no concern expressed to an injury caused by the carelessness/negligence of his staff. I requested a refund for myself and my party multiple times before it was granted and they were extremely rude about it. This was used to obtain medical supplies for my injured finger. I travel quite a bit and have never encountered such rude and inconsiderate vendors in any other country or excursion. Complete disregard for the safety of their customers and extremely poor customer service. Quite frankly if you choose to participate in this excursion please be safe especially with your children and elderly. I am enclosing pics at first injury and...
Read moreThe Monte Solaro Chair Lift experience was one of the most beautiful moments of my trip to Capri. From the moment I sat on the seat and slowly ascended to the top, I felt like I was in another world, surrounded by breathtaking nature and unforgettable views. The ride to the top takes about 13 minutes, but they are minutes filled with tranquility, where you hear nothing but the sounds of birds and the gentle sea breeze.
The view from the top is absolutely stunning. You can see the entire stretch of the Italian coastline, the crystal-clear blue waters, and the whole island of Capri from a magical panoramic perspective. At the summit, there is a small café where you can stop for a refreshing drink or a light snack while enjoying the view.
What I also loved is that the experience is suitable for everyone—it’s calm, safe, and doesn’t require much physical effort. As for the wait time, it was very short; it only took a few minutes to get on, which made the experience even more comfortable and enjoyable.
I highly recommend anyone visiting Capri to set aside time to go up Monte Solaro on the chair lift. It’s a unique opportunity to capture amazing photos and enjoy the beauty of the Italian landscape from a completely different perspective. For me, it was worth every minute, and I would definitely do it again on...
